there are 7 gobblers in this bunch of turkeys. I have been watchin em for a few weeks and have counted em myself. soon they will be splitting up but there was a bunch more I had just drove up and parked at our family cabin when I got out I heard leafs rustling. this was only a little bit of em.

I'm all ready. Had the 12yr old boy out shooting today and getting accustomed to the shotgun, this will be his first spring hunt. He did pretty well.
Got my new Kee custom mouth calls, just need the season to get here.
All these clips of birds are driving me crazy !!!
I hear ya Silencer. Just a few more weeks and me and my 16 year old daughter are gonna try and get after them.
The clips are making me antsie too, but keep em coming boys
Edit..... I ain't yet got the hang of the mouth calls..... mostly just druel and spit :doh2: but I got me a North Bay [Coulter] long box and slate and a Kee wing bone yelper this time around..... Clips are keeping me practicing
don't practice off me whistling. that was just a little trick that dad taught me. If I hear trukeys callin to each other in the fall I can normally get a lost one to show up within bow range in the fall. being able to kill one with the bow is a totally different story. I have had atleast three come in and either nail me when they came out the other side of the tree I missed on the one. dad is the big turkey guy but the opener I will probably be close to there.
I think I am gonna try this turkey hunting thing this year.I have never done it and don't know much about it
I have a custom box call coming and I will try and atleast call one in
Good Ben.... cause the sounds I can make off them calls don't sound nothing like your whistling :nono: I'll have so see how this season shapes up, but a turkey with a bow would be cool....... first thing first though. If if lucky enough to prod a gobbler to my freezer with the shotgun ..... then
:roflmao: What song was ya trying to whistle? :innocentwhistle:
:doh2: I know I know that tune from somewhere :wo:
Nice......I am ready...well, not really, but I can't wait. :sneer:
Ben,
Were you eating crackers when you saw them birds? :eyebrownod:
I'm always ready to go turkey hunting, problem is the lack of turkeys and tracks at camp. Been to camp alot this winter and didn't see a single bird or track.
I don't expect a good season. Might have to hunt a bit more closer to home.
bootmud
You guys are killing me with all these clips! Can't wait!
Last year was my first try for turkeys, didn't bag one but had a blast anyway. This year I'm on my own, my hunting partner and mentor took a job in coyote heaven (New Mexico). So it's do or die by my own wits. I'll need all the luck I can get!!
na no crackers. he boot I did say I had 7 gobblers in this bunch and the only ones that hunt em is me and dad.

One thing I did kinda figure out on my own and then I was hooked....... If ya sit down and make a few clucks and ya hear a dog bark..... it ain't a dog :hahaha:
:roflmao:
Joe... you need to borrow one of Bop's signs?
Ben, you signed up for HPA's contest ? That many birds lined up, you best sign yer name up :innocentwhistle: :eyebrow:
na. you seen what happened with the crow hunt. I sign up and then never get a chance to hunt em. I was plannin on headin out this weekend but forgot the deadline was the 10th. maybe we can do a g-hog hunt. the most hogs for all summer. just for braggin rights. I was out on tuesday huntin right when I got off work. seen nothing but it was a bit cold. soon they will be out every where though.

We're all a little slow sometimes Jim!! :innocentwhistle: :roflmao: :roflmao:
Bill-- Remember when we met up with Brad & told him how good we weren't?? :eyebrow:
This will be the same way!! :roflmao: :roflmao:
CH_1,
I think that one is a hen and we can't shoot hens in the spring in Ohio. My reason for thinking this was is I can't see any spurs or beard. Now it could be the beardless/spurless turkey that is on the Federal protection list. If that is the case you don't want to shoot it for sure. ;yes; ;yes; ;yes;
Jerry
Hamer I will keep that in mind [That thought already crossed my mind :iroll: ] :laf: I guess I won't learn unless I try though.
Jerry I was thinking that was one of them there protected turkey's ,but being a beginner I just wasn't sure! :laf:
:laf: :laf: I'm heading out in the Am to listen for em in my spot. :eyebrow:
I thought you were suppose to start back to work March 1rst
You call turkey scouting work
I was!! :laf: But I didn't!! :eyebrownod: I'm good!! :laf: :laf:
Bill-- Do you have a turkey choke for your shotgun?? I prefer 6 shot but some folks like a little bigger. My 870 shoots the Winchester 3" #6's very good at 35yds with the Remington extra full choke.
No I don't have a turkey choke for my shotgun
Looks Like Bill Is Buying a new gun :eyebrow: :roflmao: :laf:NOT
My shot gun will shoot 3 inch shells and holds a pretty nice pattern the way it shoots don't know if I should change anything or not

Bill,
What kind of gun do you have? I just bought a new one.
Hey Hamer, put a .660 primos tightwad in that 870 and see the difference  They were only running around $20 but well worth it.
I shot 2oz's of #6's as well :eyebrow:
I am shooting a mossburg 500 I also have a few single shot shotguns
Before I could tell ya all of what I have Joe I would have to get a pen and paper go look and write them down
Is that to many guns
Well dang.......I have a Remington too.........I may be able to trade.
im ready
before I made my mossberg into a short barreled modified barrel I used the original 28" barrel with a tru glow gobble stopper choke tube. dang thing held a great pattern on heavy #4 shot out to 50 yds. I am going to see if I can get the same results out of the short barrel if not the long barrel is going back on it again. I have a beretta al 390 silver mallard that I got that was liscensed by the NWTF. I think it is camoed in realtree AP green. it was the first gun I ever bought and I love it. I got it at a steal also I think I paid 450.00 for it. that is a feat for a youngin. still love the gun and until last year it was my main sporting clays gun. now I upgraded to a over under and love it for wing shooting. the beretta comes out when crows turkeys and predators are hunted.
Silencer-- Is that for a 20ga?? That's all I use.
Hamer, didnt realize you was shootin a 20. Not so sure about choke diameter's for them.
Yep!! Just a 20ga. It's all I can handle. :laf: :laf:
