We called in the wrong grey ghost! A mule and he weren't happy :roflmao: That could have been bad.  :innocentwhistle:
I thought he was in another field, but they moved him. There goes that set. :rolleye:

Al,
Good time had by all.  It was exciting to hear those dogs bark on the night stand.  Dave told me you guys got to hear them again Saturday night.  Now we just have to figure out how to seal the deal and get them to the gun.  I think most of the dogs we are dealing with this time of year are older cautoius ones that may be hard to get in.
       Happy Easter to you!

Jim

I am working on it, Kee Kee gave me some advice on the subject and basically it was to move in closer which is what I had suggested we do when we got there, but we will try that sometime later. Next time we walk in where I told you that field was, just above there den site.
I bought one of Brents dvd's and a turkey call Since we have talked some on here I like what he has to say and I want to hear more.
I had a great time and we should do it again.

Frogman , Al, John and I had a pretty good night but we never got to pull the trigger, We heard several dogs but no fur down.  Pretty much parr for the course. Its been awhile since i got to pull the trigger i forget what its like, but it will happen soon we r around to many dogs not to.  The last several stands Al n I have been on we heard dogs close, alot have been 200 to 100 yards from us but would not come any closer.  Jim was a very good guy and i enjoyed hunting with him and i am sure we will get together again.  Hey Jim,  Al said one of his buddies said there was 2 calves dead on his property and wants us to come n hunt on his property and Al wanted me to tell u and maybe set up a hunt around them sooooooooon.

First we scout guys, I know where one pack is but the other is a concern. We must find them, I think they moved from years past. We need to hook up for just some scouting.

Al,
I agree with just the scouting.  Both KeeKee and CCP suggest extensive scouting prior to the hunt.  I think these two guys know what they are talking about!   :yoyo:

I also wondered about one of us trying to slip closer to the dogs while the other guys continue to call to them.  If the wind was right that might work, especially if we were familiar with the terrain as a result of our scouting.  In that set up we had on Friday night it sounded to me like those dogs were near that power line right of way about 150 to 200 yards away.  If one of you guys who were more familiar with the area could have sneaked down the right of way staying close the edge of the woods you might have gotten close enough for a shot??  It might be impossible to be quiet enough in the dark.  Maybe get closer and try some lip squeeks??  What do the rest of you guys think?   Have any of you been able to slip in closer to the dogs and get a shot while another hunter continues to call behind you??  :wo: :wo:  This is rough thick terrain we are talking about here.

I will show you why that would not have worked but we will be closer when we start. there is another clearing down there that has only one quiet way in and it is a long walk but we will try. that right of way? you can not even shoot buckshot in that stuff and get very far, to thick.
Those dogs were closer than you think, I could hear there feet in the leaves but you guys had the hill blocking the sound from you. Next time we will put you on the back door and see if we can get on in your lap. :eyebrownod: :eyebrownod:

Sounds good to me Al, but I don't get scared (unless it's a snake)  I just kick the safety off and wait. :yoyo:
