The FnF Spring 08 Turkey Contest
...begins today.
Ends May31Were going run two categories again, one for the biggest Turkey and one for the best photographed Hero Shot.
The winner of each category will win a $75 gift card for Cabelas :yoyo:
Every eligible entry will also receive their choice of (1) Kee's Custom Turkey Diaphragm (http://www.keescalls.com/index.php?page=shop.browse&category_id=16&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1)
Biggest Turkey
- This will be judged by beard length and spur length only. (if you shoot a tiny turkey with a 40" beard... your going to Cabelas.)
- You will need to photograph the beard with a ruler or tape measure, and the same with the spurs. The actual measurement must be easily distinguishable in the pictures.
- Add the total measurements of each spur and the beard, highest accumulated inches will be the winner.
Post your total with your post  yeah post your total with your post....that made sense didnt it?
- In such a case your turkey has more then one beard, both beards can be included
Best PhotographThis will be judged by the members in the form of a poll.
Were looking for the ultimate Hero Shot, be creative. Were gonna be looking for some serious aw factor. Sunsets, natural settings, etc. Were talking desktop wall paper
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- All entries MUST be posted in this thread.
- All submitted photos must have something in the picture that says Fins and Fur. Write it on your shirt, your forehead, write it in the dirt, on a piece of paper...it dont matter but it must be in the picture.
- All participants must be of Reg Member status by the end of the contest. That means 25 posts under your belt to be eligible or to vote.
- One person cannot win both categories. The biggest Turkey will pretty much be self decisive by the measurements. This participant will automatically be non eligible for the photo contest.
Have fun and good luck to ALL :yoyo:
I forgot to add the fact that I'm going to post all entries on the main site also

Then I finally got a day to call one for myself and that bird was HOT! He gobbled almost non stop at me for what seemed like 400yds. He then hung up because a hen cut between us so everytime she yelped I would cut her off cutting and yelping and he just would not come.........So I gobbled......He ran at me stopping to strut @ 50 yds. he gave me and that hen a real show strutting and drumming and gobbling.........I gave a fighting purr and he turned to fight and at 25 yds. Bang He flopped and raised his head to get up so I busted him two more times and BIG BIRD DOWN BOYS!

9 1/2 inch beard and 1 inch spurs.
This was one of those hunts that makes you wonder why turkey hunting can be so tough. It couldn't have went any smoother unlike the previous two weeks!
They were gobbling like crazy on the roost, I got set up about 75 yards away. Did a few soft tree yelps with my new North Bay box (thanks Steve) call. I heard em fly down, give em a few clucks and purrs with my new North Bay slate(thanks again Steve) 15 minutes later there they were! BANG done at 6:56!
AWSOME! :yoyo: :yoyo:That bird looks as wet as I have been this week. I can not hunt on Sunday but I was there in spirit. Nice bird! :highclap: :highclap: :highclap: Congrats :congrats:

We've got quite a bit of rain the last few days, it's pretty wet out there.
Yesterday I saw this bird and another bigger one out in the field. I tried to belly crawl within range. I only needed to get another ten yards. After crawling and sliding 100 or so yards through the grass and mud I was soaked. Good thing the sun came out to dry me off.
Very nice indeed.
You get lucky like that all the time or are you just THAT friggin good  :yoyo:

I don't know about the rest of you guys but from what I've been hearing around here it's been a tough year. Not near as many birds taken.
I dare you Jim!!! Come on show us how it's done. :bowingsmilie:
Oh trust me if I had the time, I'd sure give it a whirl. Between that and my dancing videos though.... there aint enough time in my days. :wo: :roflmao:
dancing videos, :shck: now this I gotta see . on second thought,, :nono: :nono:
Congrats on your bird too Chad. :congrats: A lot of the guys that I've talked to
say it's gettin tougher around here too. Two of the guys that I hunt with
that got them, one first season, one second, the one came in quiet and behind him,
but he was able to swing and get the shot off. The other guy I think just happened
to be in between where they came from, and where they were goin to. :laf:
Sunday mornin I heard some gobblin off the roost, probably a half mile away, my one
buddy happened to be sittin right by em just out of range, they flew down, hit the ground,
just kept walkin the other direction. He said he couldn't see any hens around, and they didn't
even pay attention to his callin. :madd: I think I saw about the same number of
birds during deer huntin through fall and this winter, but I sure haven't seen much this spring yet.
You dont want to see that...... :nono:

Congrats on your first turkey Nailbender. :thumb2: It's a nice one. 25 lbs is almost unheard of here.
Hey, congrats on the bird. There does seem to be some concern and a protest may be made. It appears that you may have used a camo gun and were drinking on the hunt. We will be waiting on the story.
Jerry
Nailbender, I was just looking at your pics again. What sight is that on your gun Docter, Optima, J-point or one the other new ones?
