Title: How many traps?
Post by: pitw on May 01, 2008, 08:37:24 AM
How many traps do you guys set at your gang sets?  I have set as many as 5 and once had 4 in traps within 50 yards.  I usuallly set two traps at a location but if there is more than one trail I put in more.

for some reason i'v settled on the number three and then add a set out from the catch circle. have had as many as 7 trapps at a gang set in a ten day period before i pulled them.

I don't gang set much at all unless I am setting for ADC. On a standard set 2 traps are standard maybe 3 but not very often. But for ADC work I have set as many as 10 sets or more with in 100 yards.

I know some things differ here, but normally I will set two traps. A lot depends on the animal I am targeting as well.  When setting around a kill site I will set as many as twenty snares with a #9 leghold chained to the kill.  Wolves typically come in one behind the other, catch one in the leghold the rest will disperse into the snares.
