... to see 2 dead coyote pups along the road on my drive up to Ohio last night. One was on I-75 south of Dayton and the other was on Rt 4 by Mechanicsburg. I knew there were pups in the dens but hadn't really thought about them being big enough to get out and around now. Both of them were about 10"-12" tall at the shoulder.
Anybody else seen any pups roaming around?
My self I have not seen them but have been tolld by other people that they have seen them and on a setup I made a couple of weeks ago I'm sure I had a pack of pups open up when I started calling. cc
A couple of friends were turkey hunting this mourning and shot a coyote on my farm here in WV they both shot it with shotguns and turkey loads 3" #5's and it still ran off and was not found. They claim it was just a pup and probably 15-20 lb. I have been hearing them for a couple of weeks or so. So I guess it could be true.
Yip. Had one about the size of a large house cat bolt across the road in front of me last week. Prolly only 3 to 5 pounds but sho-nuff it was a coyote.

Not yet for me. But I hope to once the mushrooms start popping. last year we found a den full in a hollowed out tree stump. Well actually a buddy did while mushroom hunting. He came to get me and when we got back she had em all packed up and moved. :eyebrownod:
We usually see almost full sized pups around the first of June. In July they break up and leave thier family groups so there could be a wide range in pup size right now however I am sure they are a little scared from the turkey hunters and running oround some.
