On Thursday 5/1/08 two friends took me turkey hunting with them in Ritchie County WV near Mellon Ridge. As we were walking out this haul road on a ridge we found something interesting:

A bear track I think. Big one too. Nearly 5 inches accross. Only found this one track. Last rain was on Tuesday morning so it is probably that old. Pretty cool. I may have to re-think night hunting in this area.
Looks to be the front paw of a black bear. A good rule of thumb is to measure across the pad and add 1" eg. if the pad is 4" across the bear will square (front spread claw to claw, and tip of nose to tail, divded by two) at about 5 feet. Hope what I wrote makes sense.
Nice...I found some bear crap where I was hunting yesterday. I played with it a bit, but failed to take any pics :eyebrownod:
