I am curious about this howler I made today. It's made from Ash. i used BLO then later waxed it several coats. Do you think I should leave it like this or maybe dip it in polycrylic to get more shine. It seems to be more of a satin finish now. What do you think?

If you leave it, it will take on a nice natural patina with use. Makes the call have a nice warm look and feel to it. Some guys like the high gloss finsih, and as a call maker it is hard not to go that way, but I have some call I made 4 or 5 years ago that had nothing on them at all, and I think they look very nice now.
Your choice, but that call looks like it would age very nicely just the way it is.

Thanks Al: I think I will leave it as is.
