For the last 2 and a half months, I have been dieting, and running. I started running with the whole intention of running a 5k race on the 4th of July with my brother when my wife and I went to visit my kids. Well, lately, I have been making and using every excuse in the book not to run. The diet is still going well, I have lost 32 lbs to date, but the running was hard to do.
Last night my brother called and asked if I was still planning on running. I told him I didn't feel like I was ready. I also told my wife that I didn't feel like running last night, that I would just run tonight. That is when I was hit with it. I was making excuses and being lazy. So I decided to bite the bullet and run. I also decided that I was going to man up and run the race. So the 4th of July, I will be running 5k with my brother and I am STOKED.
:yoyo: :yoyo: Good for you Dog! :highclap: :highclap:
and who cares where ya finish in your first race,,
my goal would be just to finish.
Congrats on the diet. :congrats: I didn't like the direction
I was goin either and I've shaved off 20 lbs.
Good luck on the training and the race.
Scott
Good Luck Joe & Scott!! I started eating sensibly myself 2 months ago when the scale hit 219.7lbs!! I said :pout: & started being more careful in what I eat & how much. It's a slower process but I'm touching that 210 mark now.

Dod you say gitrdone???? :roflmao:
Thanks Glen and Scott. I am going to need someone pushing me for the next 2 weeks to keep going, it is not going to be easy.
Joe, it sounds like you are off and running. :laf:
The older you get the harder it is to drop the extra baggage, I know.
At one time I weighed nearly 500#, :iroll: wore a size 62 pants. It took me over three years to drop down to 250, what I am now. :whew:
Just don't try to loose the weight too fast and good luck with the 5K, pace yourself. :highclap:
Good job Joe!
Hey, maybe we ought to have a fat losing contest for FnF porkers. :wo: We could all say what we weigh (honor system) have a weigh-in at the LBL hunt. The winner gets some sort of prize. I KNOW I need to lose some weight and the motivation might get the job done.
What do y'all think?
Semp
I'm for that!!! :highclap:
Gotta have some sort of goal, not just for the "health" of it. :iroll: In football, Kung-Fu, Powerlifting, etc. we always had a goal or objective.
To exercise and diet for health is such an obscure type goal that it is hard to maintain the proper motivation. A weigh off would be cool and definitely give some motivation. :yoyo:
Yea, then when you all meet you could have a new contest, see who can gain the most back before the end of the event. :doh2:
I was always the skinny kid, now I'm porkin up myself. All started when I started sitting behind a desk for a living about 7 years ago.
bootmud
Joe, if you want to run then more power to ya. But I think you're real problem is that you've run out of excuses. :shck: I can send you a few more if you need some.
Joe, I think that's great. I run or work out with weights almost every day. Do I like it? No, but I do it
because it makes me feel better.
Good luck on the 5K and keep on running afterwards.
Nelson
Joe where is the 5k taking place
Just remember you don't have to be in first place to be a winner

Bill,
There are actually at least 4 of them, and we havn't narrowed it down. Right now it is between Stow, Medina, Aurora, and Hudson.

 Ifr they add any more places to the run it'll be a lot more than 5K Joe!! Better lock it in now while it's still under 7K!! :laf: :laf:
Good Luck & all you gotta do is your best Joe!!
And take a RED sharpie to write FnF on your number tag!! :eyebrow:
:eyebrownod:
Good luck, I havent run since ...... millitary over 10 yrs ago. Not sure if I could do a mile now :rolleye: , but I do walk everywhere.
