where I went 4-wheeling today, I was keeping an eye out for critter tracks. I saw Deer, coon and what I THINK might be coyote tracks.
Here is the thing, they looked like house dog tracks, I could see 4 nail prints but they where coyotes size and as long as I could follow them, they where in a very straight pattern. No zig zagging or nothin.
There where 2 sets right next to each other going the same way.
I couldn't make out the pad shape because they where in semi-soft sand going right through a sand pit.
ideas?
dog
there are no people tracks around it.
Sometimes coyote tracks show more than two nail marks...

very close looking, thanks I think that it confirms it.
Now this place is a multi use state park. Hunting, hiking, atv, snowmobile, and what ever.
The critters I assume are used to the noises and smells and sites and the place is full of swamps, hardwoods, pine forests and pretty much everything we get in the North east.
Should I go in on my atv like normal, in the early morning and park it and call the wood lots before the other guys get in there?
P.s. they stock pheasant not to far from there.
But if you had your dog with you when you were there, there wouldn't be any people tracks by his tracks either. :nono:
Yes Mr. Jim... those are dog tracks :nono: :laf:
If those coyotes dogs are used to seeing and hearing people then you could use that to your advantage. Personally, paying close attention to the wind, I would try to enter the area quietly from a section where the coyotes dogs are not as used to seeing people, sneak around to the back door... so to speak. Then you could scratch their bellies and pat then on the head. :eyebrownod:
I would also consider a weekday hunt. Hopefully, there's not be as many humans in the area during the week.
Good luck !!
there are no atv tracks either. I think the rain the other night washed most of them down or something.
Listen, I was just wondering. why are you giving me a hard time???? :argh: :laf:
