My wife hollered, "Come here quick", from the back door. Sure enough right there in my back yard under the persimmon tree, eating persimmons, was a coyote. Ran for the R-15 and went quietly out the door, the coyote seemed to be stalking some deer. Here is how I was set up . . . .

The gun cracked and the coyote spun around a couple of times and went down. About 50 yards away.

The exit wound, those 60 grain V-Maxes are great. . . .

And the hero shot . . . .

Alscalls was nice enough to come out and take the pictures for me.
Jim
Eating persimmons huh? Wonder if someone could make a persimmon in distress call?
Heck you get coyotes like I could get deer
Good job
Show off!! :rolleye:
:roflmao: :roflmao:

I will sell you one bouncy ball straight from the gum ball machine and painted orange for the low low price of $19.99 +S&H
Just throw it near your favorite persimmon tree and it will sound like one just fell I guarantee it. :eyebrownod:
:roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:
Nice Jim, First coyote with that R-15..... :yoyo: :yoyo: Now you owe your wife for pointing that one out to ya :laf:
Good job, Froggie! It has always been interesting to me how coyotes love persimmons. If you have coyotes on a piece of property and there are persimmons there somewhere, you can bet they'll show up when the persimmons get ripe. Alscalls' idea for a falling persimmon is too funny. :congrats: :congrats:
:yoyo: :yoyo:
Right place at the right time!
or should I say wrong place at the wrong time
depending on how you look at it. :laf:
Nice job.
:roflmao: Hunting in your shorts! :roflmao: Way to go Frogman!! :yoyo:
:roflmao: persimmon call!!! :roflmao: I love it! Great story Frogman, man I like that R-15!
Nice camo Jim! I will do one better than alscalls and sell you some persimmon tree cover scent for 18.95 +shipping and handling. :laf:
I will say that camo will be a little cool in Dec. :shck:
Guys,
I just went down and checked on the persimmon trees. They are loaded with fruit, but it is not ripe yet. There were no persimmons on the ground under the trees. So I'm not sure what the coyote was eating under one of the trees when my wife first saw him. But I do know they will eat the persimmons when they are ripe. I guess it really doesn't matter. It was still a neat situation. I have not heard any coyotes or seen any sign in the woods behind my house. I have permission to hunt quite a bit of ground back in there and have done several stands with no luck. I have herad coyotes howling accross the street. Guess I'm going to have to try some more stands here near the house.
Another thing. When my next door neighbor heard the shot and I told him I had killed a coyote he got all upset and said, "Aw, why are you killing the coyotes, they don't do any harm. Kill the deer instead, they eat my garden." Do any of you guys have examples of coyotes killing pet dogs and cats, etc. that I can show him. He is a big dog lover and has a pet dog that stays in the house most of the time. I would like to be able to show him that pet animals are on the coyote menu.

:whew: Here you go Jim. And don't let anybody feed you any bull crap about how these are "all out west" either. :nofgr: Your neighbor may be a dog lover but you're not dealing with a dog. You're dealing with a wild animal that has 3 main purposes in life. Finding food, shelter & reproduction of the effective killing machines that they are. Hope this helps my Friend. :yoyo:
Thanks Glen & possumal,
Those will help, but I'm not sure he will be receptive to the facts!?!?
Jim
They never are Jim. :rolleye:
Way to go Frogman, I just got back from our Hunt Club down in Georgia and I have never seen such a Persimmon crop as this year, The Trees are so loaded with Persimmons that they are pullins the trees to the ground, Should be some good setups around the Persimmon Trees this year. cc
WoW, it must have been too early :doh2:......I was trying to figure out how the coyote got into his shorts in the first place????    :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:
WTG Jim! :thumb2:
Now you won't be able to go past the windows w/o looking for coyotes under the Pesimmon tree. :roflmao:
Nothing wrong with a freebie! :yoyo:
Now Im jealous :innocentwhistle:
Hey,
I figure with all the unsuccesful stands I have done this year that I deserved that easy one. The coyote hunting gods were smiling on me because I have been working so hard at it. I just hope they keep smiling so it's not so long between kills. This was my first since LBL. Now it's your turn wv_yoter!!!
Jim

Yeah Jim I think I'm due, but I'll be wearing camo when it happens.
Hey Frogman,
You're going to have to modify your signature line. I think it should read something like: You can't kill them from the recliner --- but you can kill them from the back porch!
Pat
Fruit of the Loom® is gonna eat this right up
I ainta touchin this one for nuthin!!!!!!!! :nono:

:laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:
Hey Jim Could you have shot him from the recliner if you had had the patio doors open? :wo:
:roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:
Hey,
Now there's a thought. We do have an old recliner down in the basement. I could bring it up and set it out on the porch. I could even attach my shooting sticks to the arm rests. I think you guys might have something here. Then I would have to change the sig line.
Jim
