I made this call about 6 months ago when I first got my lathe. I always thought it looked like a soda bottle and I hated the way it looked so I kept the call hidden on the back shelf. It is a closed reed cottontail distress.

I took it back out in the shop tonight to see if I could turn it into an open reed distress if there was enough wood left to re-turn it. I ended up having just enough. I put my delrin toneboard in it and now It's done. It has to be there isn't enough wood left to re-work it again. :wo:

Looks good John. :yoyo: Kinda cool how experience starts playing with those 1st calls isn't it? :eyebrownod:
That looks great. I have a big box of that sort of call I cannot bring myself to throw out, someday.
Good answer.I like it.
I'm very pleased with it and I like the open reed better also. I was going to go out to the shop tonight but the snow is deeper than I want to walk in. LOL. About 6 inches so far and tree branches are starting to break from the weight of the wet heavy snow.
