Title: BIG PROBLEM at LBL Camping Facilities
Post by: weedwalker on November 11, 2008, 11:56:13 AM
NO CABINS AVAILABLE, YET, for rent at the LBL Wranglers campground. I tried to reserve a cabin on the reservation phone line. It is thru the National Parks Dept. They have no cabins listed as available because the LBL didn't send an updated list of whats available. The LBL didn't send the list because starting March 1st they will begin making reservations directly at the campground. I explained to them that a group of us go there the 1st full weekend of Feb every year. The LBL told me to call back after the 1st of the year and "maybe" they could do something. It didn't sound very promising.
Well, I then called the National Parks Dept customer service. They said that the LBL "WILL" provide the list and they are going to call me back as soon as they have the listings of cabins available. They said this problem will be resolved immediately.
I'll keep you posted as to when we can make reservations.

Ed,

I talked to a lady at LBL about this a month or two ago. She said that during January and February they were going to go to a "first come first served" system for the cabins. I explained that that wouldn't work for what we were doing because thirty to forty guys would be there and they wouldn't drive from hundreds of miles away on the chance that they "might" get a cabin. They would either stay somewhere else, or not come at all. She said she thought they would be able to take reservations for us for that weekend because of the size of the group and she would call me back. She hasn't yet. I called again today but they are closed for Veterans Day. I left a message to have her call me. I'll also let you know if I learn anything.

I'm going even if I have to sleep in my truck.   :laf:

But I think LBL will get all of this sorted out.

What a bunch of crap.
Man when was it?  Just last year they started having all their reservations done through a third party and they had to be done online.

It was some National Reservation company, seriously! http://www.reserveusa.com
Had to tell them what campground in the US you were getting reservations for and all that happy junk.

  :doh2:   :doh2:

Someone told me ya got to have a hunters safety card now to get a license in another state regardless of age.
Is this true for the LBL?
Man I hope we find out soon about the cabins.

Al,
All hunters born on or after January 1, 1975, must have completed a hunter education course and carry a course completion card while hunting, however you do not need to show your hunter safety card in order to buy a license.

I haven't heard that one yet.  It is not in the regs that I can find.  Like Jim said if you were born on or after January 1, 1975, you need a hunter safety card.

In Kentucky, try this link.......  http://www.kdfwr.state.ky.us/navigation.asp?cid=291&NavPath=C117C145

In other states, contact your state fish and wildlife authorities for the procedure to follow.

Thats pretty much the same info you need for any replacement state issued Hunter Ed card

Name
-Birthdate
-Current Address
-Previous Address (when the course was taken)
-Approximate date and location of the Hunter Education class you took
-$5

The fee may vary. Here's it's 10$

We just drove right to the state DNR office here and got a replacement for Kyle.

I'm still trying to get something done about LBL rentals. I sent this e-mail yesterday and I'm waiting for a reply. Feel free to send one yourself. I'm not thinking of canceling, just thought it sounded good.   The e-mail is rroby@fs.fed.us  The phone is # 270-924-2000. I'm going to call the National Customer Service again this afternoon.

LBL Management,

There is a group of about 50 hunters that meet at Wranglers Campground each year the 1st full weekend in February for an annual coyote hunt. We have been doing this for several years now. Most of us rent cabins and a few stay in nearby hotels.
We are having a problem getting cabin reservations this year. The National Reservation people said they don't show any cabins available because they don't have an updated list from the LBL. If they had the list, we could make our reservations. I called Wranglers Campground and they told me the National reservations was ending December 31st and after that, the individual parks would be taking reservations. They also told me they weren't set up to take reservations until March 1st. That dosen't help us in February. We were told to call back sometime after the 1st of the year and they would "maybe" know something then, and that it might be a 1st come 1st serve basis. That will not work for us as people need to plan vacations, budget for their trip, and know for sure they have a place to stay when they get there. We have people that come from all over the country, and without reservations, we will have to cancel our event that so many are looking forward to.Is there anything you can do to help us? We are getting short on time and will have to cancel soon.

Thank You,

Ed Lay
