Thanks guys. I just finished a new one for me. It's part antler and part cedar. I'll post it up later to see what you guys think of it. It is my first attempt at something made from 2 different materials.

I guess I'll just stick it in here. Here it is so let me have it. It is Cedar and antler with my open reed board.

I like it.......Must have been hard to do, Dose the horn go inside the wood or just glued to it?
the two go real nice together I like the looks of it :highclap:
I turned the antler on the lathe so it fits inside the cedar. I have it seated about 3/4". It was a snug fit but I added glue to be safe. The cedar has a 5/8 straight bore.
John
Now I like that. :congrats:
Nice work John :yoyo:
Thanks guys. I didn't know if anybody would like it or not. Being cedar it is kinda Pink. LOL.
John
I'm impressed with the combination. Just looks kinda nifty. Ya done good.
Ya got me digging through my deer horns..... :laf: I guess you have inspired me John that's a fine looking call. :highclap:
Looks great John I volunteer my services to field test it for you :yoyo: really goes well together :congrats:
Thank guys. I think you'll like making one Al, It was pretty easy to make. I predrilled the cedar for the 5/8 bore then I turned the antler on my 1/2" stubby mandrel so I could keep checking the fit. Once it fit the cedar blank I glued it in then switched mandrels to the 5/8" and turned the cedar with the antler in place so I could make sure the outsides matched up. With the call being cedar and pretty soft wood I dipped with several coats of waterbased polycrylic to get a hard high gloss finish. With it coated inside and out it gives a better sound tp the call with such soft wood I think. I can't wait to see what you come up with.
