Title: Just a reminder
Post by: FinsnFur on November 22, 2008, 08:55:05 PM
Just a reminder that after Feb17th 09 if you still haven't converted your computer over to HD you may have difficulty viewing the Fins and Fur Forums.

After Feb17th Fins and Fur will be broadcasting in High Definition and will not be received by older computers.
You have two options at this point.

Thanks for the reminder Jim,

Just picked up my converter earlier this week.  They also threw in the html inverter conversion remote at no extra charge.  I was impressed by the excellent customer service.  I don't want to miss a day of F&F!?!???

How the sam hill do I tell if this laptop can do whatever the heck you are talking about.  Telus phoned yesterday and said I had to update my aircard too.  I'm beginning to think the old pencil and paper may have to be my answer to this tech stuff.

I can't afford another upgrade to my tech toys.  So I guess I'll have to make do with the analog version of FnF.  Will the old IP address still work or do I have to redirect to another modulator box?

Jim,

You are mean and nasty.  I love it.

Jerry

P.S.  Do you have any extra converters that you would be able to sell?

I dont have any no Jerry.
But I have been told that a digital camera can be used as a temp or in place of the converter.

The digital camera must be USB ready, and have a digital display on it.
Plug the digital camera into a USB port on your computer, turn it on, and then begin to log onto the forums as you normally would.

JUST BEFORE the page trys load, click the shutter button on your camera.
The cameras display will now be used as a temporary monitor and you'll be able to view the forums.

Man!!!
I'm glad I got my converter before they ran out.  I have enough trouble reading the display screen on my Scorpion remote to try to read F&F on my camera screen.  I am pleased that my html  inverter conversion remote has a larger screen.  At least we don't have to worry about it til Feb. 17!!

OK, I went to Radio Shack and asked them what this is all about.  They said if you don't already have a digitallly enhanced PC, they have a fix.  Just ask for the Random Algorithm Access Hex Inverter, on sale for $99 until Dec 31. :whew:

THAT is a good price Tom :eyebrow: Unfortunately only the really old computers are going to have a port connection that fits the RAAH Inverter. Everything switched over to either serial ports or I/O peripheral ports a while back.

Carl, the best way to tell is to right click your "my computer" icon. It's either on the desktop or in the start menu. You can right click the one in the start menu also and get the same results.

But right click it and then choose "properties" from the list that appears.
On the "general" tab which should be the opening view you'll see;
Registered to: and then your name under it.
Under that you'll see a serial number. If that serial number has the letters "OEM" in it, then your computer will not be digital.

I double checked my computer and found out that Geek Squad guy who sold me this piece of crap lied to me.  My computer says "OEM" and he told me it was a digital computer.   I am just sick now.  All I got is the new serial port connections.  "Best Buy" my arse!  I'm going to Circuit City next time.   :pout:

Thanks FinsnFur, I'm starting to learn a bit about this computer stuff....   :eyebrow:

Shoot, just last week I found out what I thought was a really neat cup holder is really something called a CD tray.  :thumb2:

So whoever know's what do I do with three lap top's that come up oem.  Do I just say goodbye now or what?

Post by: coyotehunter_1 on November 25, 2008, 10:27:52 PM
Nope, not a cup holder. CD = Coffee Ddispenser.
I just put a filled coffee filter in the tray hole, pour water in the slot and push the little button, the tray retracts but mine don't make good coffee worth squat.

Maybe the inverter/converter will work better or else I may need to update my auto drip module? :argh:

I checked mine and it has the letters "HEM".  I thought I had lucked out ,but when I checked with my Radio Shack dude he said that stands for "Hecho En Mexico".  Piece of analog crap!   :madd:

The Preceding posts on this thread were a JOKE just a joke. A very complex form of ruthless posting. If this had been an actual thread it would have been filled with actual usefull information and specefic directions to factual places and or things.  AGAIN the preceding posts were a JOKE and had no actual bassis in real life.
