Since Foxpro is their major competition, I would hope they would compare to it.    :innocentwhistle:

I'm no expert on E-callers as I kind of gave up on them after my Johnny Stewart became obsolete and then we used a Foxpro 416b for a little while and I surely thought it hampered the hunt, but that is just my opinion. However, the WT's have always just looked like a big speaker to me and that was about it. Can't see where they have changed much visually. They may have changed the guts a lot, but I don't know nor do I care.

I personally feel like a true caller uses mouth calls. No doubting ecallers bringem down, but so does arial shooting.  :innocentwhistle:

I like that hand calls most of the time, especially when walking and traveling light. However, ecallers do have a few advanatages besides the obvious one.

When it is really windy, ecallers are great for much needed volume.
Calling for cats, the ecaller is shines because of the variety of sounds used especially cat vocals.
If you are night hunting, the ecaller frees up a hand. There are so many things that can go wrong after dark, sometimes it feels like you need an extra hand.

Probablly didnt say anything that most of you already know.

Randy

That's like saying a true hunter wears buckskins, uses a flintlock, and only still hunts deer.   :innocentwhistle:

Comparing the FP to the WT is an apples to oranges comparison. It is a speaker issue. I've never liked the sound reproduction from the FP speaker. The Minaska had the right idea with the U1, they just never has the electronics to do the speaker justice. The new small WT will be a great caller and its priced right, the have great electronics and sounds. I have a Wt kas 2030 and don't plan on buying a new WT as mine wasn't outdated in this release. My foxpro was outdated 3 months after I bought it.

I have an FX5. I have hunted with a WT. I will say this. If the new KAS-2030MS has similar qualitys as the larger version. I would much rather have it. The FX5 just dosnt have the quality of sound that the WT has.

The reason behind my FX5 choice was I wanted to be able to install my own sounds.  With the WT you cant do that, it is a large unit and on the heavy side.  Now this new version, I would have to say I would have purchased this one over anythign else.

IF

it holds up to its big brothers reputation.

Slagmaker,
It is a speaker issue. Any caller is only able to reproduce a sound that the "speaker" is capable of. I now use a 15 watt TOA for an external speaker.  Try it, you will be glad that you did.

OOH yeah I know. If the FX had a better speaker it would sound as good as the recording that you are playing. I think the WT still has the Fox Pro sounds beat bet yeah I can put an exteral l speaker on it and solve a lot of my sound quality issues. I still like the fact that you can program your own sounds to the FX.

When my fury comes, if I don't like the sound, I can always plug in a better TOS speaker and maybe a motorcycle battery and a wheel barrow to pack all the crap I'll need to make it sound good and do it all day long.  :laf:

Or just use it the way it comes and call the dumb, or young critters, till the batteries are dead.  :laf:

Spelling checked by the fat man.

Surely you jest?  A lot of smart old coyotes have beeen fooled with scratchy recordings on cheap tape players. We as hunters, are constantly searching for something better. That is what keeps this game interesting.
