same as Jim for me, and including working for the double time.  I volunteer year after year to get double time pay.   :wo: sometimes I dont think its worth it.
I get the kids up like 4 am to open presents then I'm off.  They're accustomed to it.

This may be a demographic tradition, but I love it.  Since I was a kid, Christmas meant a house full of people, cousins, neices, nephews, aunts and uncles.  Non-stop talking and Christmas carols all day and rock n roll all night.  Lots of liquor, egg nog, and an endless supply of food, munchies, and desserts.  We kids could get away with murder (but we never pushed it) because everyone was in such a good mood.  The day before Christmas was the event of the holiday.  All the women gathered in the kitchen about 10 AM.  This area was now officially off limits to the men.  If we needed anything, some female family member would fetch it.  Awesome!  Curb service, even for us kids.  The women set up a production line and started hand crafting the best damned tamales you've ever tasted.  Chicken, beef, pork, creamed corn with green chilies, and sweet tamals with nuts and raisins.  We were served "samples" of each variety all afternoon long.  Out in the street there was always a flag football going on or about to start.  Most of the neighbors had the same thing going on so we would go to all our friends houses with a plate of tamales (admission) and sample all their tasty treats, then bring them back to our house so they could do the same.

I don't see that kind of community spirt, camaraderie and openness any more.  The world seems withdrawn and secluded.  No one would be caught dead singing Christmas carols, or dare say "Happy Birthday Jesus" in public.  I miss the world I grew up in.

A myriad of cookies, candies, and hot coffee with family and friends as well as the luncheons and dinners at work.

Butter tart's and until we lost our rural delivery route a very drunk mail delivery man on his last round before xmas as being at the end of the line I usually had to pull him out of the ditch somewhere, install some more antifreeze and haul him home.
