Title: yahoo mail
Post by: FinsnFur on January 24, 2009, 11:45:30 PM
If you are using Yahoo mail and not getting your email notifications from the board heres why. (attached picture)

That's a copy of HALF of the mail rejection notices I've got from them today alone. The other half would'nt fit in the screen shot.
All mail that the board has tried to send to members Yahoo accounts and has been blocked. It looks like we have been completely shut off from Yahoo at this point.

I'm working on it, but man whaaaaaaaaaaaat a process.
It's being caused by emails getting forwarded.

Filtering? When it comes spam, Yahoo doesn't seem to have any problems filling my mailbox. :argh:

I have already signed in here and read my PMs before I check my yahoo mail. It doesn't matter to me if the e-mails even get sent. This is my first stop when I turn the 'puter on.

A gmail account can never be filled with spam.  :nono:  I use mine when I order online. I get as many as 500 spams a day & at most 2 or 3 make it to my inbox.  :yoyo:

There's nothing you folks can do as forum members. And changing your email from Yahoo to Gmail or changing it period isn't going to do anything either.

These are issues I'm working on with my hosting clients. Where there are a lot of forwards being used, and were all on the same server.

It's like this, lets say someone sends Viagra spam to Bills domain email address Bill@BillsCustomCalls.net
Bill dont have a program to manage his domain mail with so he has it all forwarded to his baconnut@yahoo.com address where he can send and receive mail as normal.
This email gets tagged by our server as spam as it arrives to Bill@BillsCustomCalls.net. Actually all servers have certain characteristics they look for in an email to help cut down on it.
Now the email gets forwarded to Baconnut@Yahoo.com since we have a forward set up on it so that bill can receive his domain mail.
Upon arriving at Yahoo, it see's this and does it's part also by checking for spam characteristics and where it came from.

Do ya see what just happen?

Yahoo tags our server as a known source of spam, and either blocks any mail coming form it, or delays it.

I merely used Bill as an example, he is a very very very small part of this and it's not his fault, since I'm the one that set the forward up for him.
The real issue is with the fact that I have close to 50 web clients using forwards. But I will be working with each one of them over the next couple weeks to show them how to utilize there domain mail without having to forward it.

It's not just Yahoo either. It's any mail server in the world that see's or gets one of these forwarded spam emails.

Yahoo has been having some issues and they are working on them. I imagine that has something to do with this situation. If any of you guys have the free Yahoo account, I can't recommend to you strong enough to upgrade to the Yahoo Mail Plus. It costs you about $19.99 a year, but it is like having a new truck compared to a tricycle.  It has a superior spam filtering system and the capacity of your mailbox will never be filled.  You can receive and send larger attachments and more attachments per email.  Keep in mind if you do this, it won't help your buddy who is on dial up with minimum speed and mailbox capacity.  It also has a superior filing system where it is easy to find the emails you file for future reference.  I had Gmail for a while, and it is fine, but it can't compare to Yahoo Mail Plus, in my opinion.

All I can say about Yahoo is it should be call Bahoo, since my Internet provider (ATT) started routing my mail through Yahoo my computer has been so screwed up I can hardly do anything, been on the phone with them for the past two weeks, nothing accomplished, can't believe Microsoft offered 46 Billion for Bahoo. :confused:cc
