Title: Savage 24V-A
Post by: slagmaker on December 03, 2006, 10:56:15 PM
I am lookig at a Savage O/U 222rem/20 guage. the price seems right at $430 shipped with scope

Anyone have any experience with one of these? I was thinking it coud be my go to gun for yotes and foxes around here sense I dont really need to make shots over 200 yards. The tereain just dosnt allow for the really long shots.

How accurate are they?
I am just looking for general info.

I owned this combo of the model 24 several years ago (I happen to have the 22/410 and the 22/20ga combos right now).   One thing you'll find about the 222/20ga is that the 222 bbl is very thin.  Unless there is a solid rib between the bbls (I think some were like that), you can actually "flex" the barrel with a moderate squeeze.   I'd think it would be a great little gun in certain situations.  But don't look for super-accuracy out of the rifle bbl.
