HERES THE DEAL GUYS..........
Unfortunatly i was not going to be able to hunt tis year at the annual hunt do to work conflicts so buddy and I decided to camp this week.....we were able to get set up Friday evening and made 6 stands this morning however as it stands right now LBL IS CLOSED...Ranger Connley had orginally told us this morning bofore we left camp (really cold and foggy) at 7:30 am that "unofficially" the park is closed but if we stayed on TN side (no problems there at all) we shoulds be fine....we returned to camp at 12:45 and was met by him and that the word has come down that due to the extensive dammage and declaring the southern part of KY a disaster area the park is OFFICIALLY CLOSED his guess is that due to the massive amount of damaged to the area starting just north or TN/KY line it will probalby be closed for up to 3 WEEKS. You can try the contact numbers for LBL but we had no luck....they have no power and very limited phones...the Ranger said they will try as soon as possible to get the word out via the net and news papers but to please be patient.

I just got off the phone with Coyote 101. The LBL manager told him the same thing. He said after they get up and running they will start reimbursing our cabin fees we paid.
:sad2: I have put in for my vacation at work so I have to use it I think so I will be hunting somewhere
SORRY GUYS
I am not a regular poster here but i do visit quite often wanted to attned the hunt this year but could not get it worked out....would have rathered posted a cool story bout me blowing a bobcat stand this morning or about the coyote visit we had in the campsite last night but knowing that the annual LBL hunt is a big deal for a lot of guys here I wanted to make sure that I got the word out as to what we found out today.

I do not know what to say....... :sad3:..........Pray for Ky.
I'm thankful that we got word far enough in advance to avoid a bunch of ticked off people setting at Wranglers gate next weekend.
Oh man, I am at a loss for words. I know how badly I wanted to go, even thought about showing up just to say high to the fellers. But for the guys that made plans and had time off form work and were actually able to go. I really feel for you guys.
Big bummer.
Has anyone heard anything from Pat yet??

Well this is not good. You guy's were really looking forward to it and put a lot of planning into it. You were so excited about it that you even got me to check out the area on the internet. I'm sorry for all of you.
Jim,
Thanks! I missed that.
Jim
Lets all go to Barry's house and bring turkey calls....lots of turkey calls!!........ :eyebrow:..... :roflmao: :roflmao:
I hate that this happened :puke:
I was getting eager to leave myself. On the other hand the last thing those poor folks need is a bunch of tourists getting in their way right now. I wish them all the best. :yoyo:
HEY GUYS
i know i am new and all but western ky is getrting put back together i just got power back i have been out since tuesday we spent two days just clearing roads so that the state road crew could make it in there are still thousands without power infact u go a halfmile up the road from my house and there is no power . but good news it has warmed up ice is melting and hopefully the snow they are calling for goes away well take it easy guys and i hope the light stay on
Well crap! I guess that's about it then. Chet and I will just hunt a few places around here and start planning for next year. Neither one of us have been too healthy the past few days anyway. I always believe everything happens for a reason, I don't know the reason, but it'll be okay.
Y'all take care and I hope those of you that can't change your vacation time will at least get some hunting time in.
Well that stinks, I was really looking forward to it. Ya'll say the TN side is still open though? Are there cabins there? Heck I'd pull a camper...Heck I'll still go if I got to get a room. Talked to WldWldWest and he feels the same way, if we can still hunt it, I think we're still going. Camp, Motel, what ever it takes! What do ya'll think?
QuoteYa'll say the TN side is still open though?
No it is not open. Me and Mallardsr had gotten rooms at Dover thinking we could hunt the TN side. We were wrong it is closed too. ALL of LBL is closed to ALL activities. For at least 3 weeks or until farther notice.
Mallaredsr canceled our reservations.
This is from the LBL web site:
IMPORTANT LBL TRAVEL CONDITIONS UPDATE
January 30, 2009
All of LBL, including all roads and trails (The Trace and OHV, hiking, biking, and horeeback trails), are closed to visitors until further notice. Severe ice storm damage, fallen trees and downed power lines have made conditions unsafe.
Sorry to hear guys. I havent checked out the link Bill posted but I hope yall still hook up somehow.
I've been looking forward to the pic's and posts about the hunt.
I was looking forward to it too but you gotta understand those folks need to get things back in order. I would have liked to have gone but I feel for those folks.
Dang, I hate that. I 've not done any calling to amount to anything waiting on the LBL trip. Done bought the permit and just canceled my reservations at the Dover Inn.
The neighbor of the property we have leased is up to around 80 coyote trapped in two years. I don't see much sign anymore on our property. He's about killed everything around. I guess I'll be hitting it this weekend anyway. I know we still have a bobcat or two.
