Title: How bout a rebate?
Post by: FinsnFur on February 08, 2009, 09:35:21 PM
Check this out.
I bought a new CPU cooler for my machine here back on November 18th. Bought it from Tiger Direct who is very reputable and I was being offered a manufacturer rebate. A pretty good chunk of money when compared to the actual cost of the cooler too.

I just got to thinking about it again today, still haven't received the rebate, despite the two days of hoops I had to go through to actually initiate the process.

I found a saved email with tracking info on the rebate, so i tracked it.  Check out the dates on this sumbitch :roflmao:
What in the sam hell could possibly take 3 months? Holeeeeeee Keeeeeee RAP :iroll:

It's not tiger Directs fault though, this is coming directly from the manufacturer.
Or... I should say it was :doh2:

When I bought my computer and monitor and printer all 3 had different rebates....I asked the sales guy why they made it so hard by having to peel labels and copy paperwork, etc. to get the rebates. He told me they do that because a huge percentage of the people get home and say screw it and never even send in the rebates. I did mine and it took about 6 months to finally get them back!

Jim,

I think they are waiting for some additional sales so they will have the money to give you your rebate.  Then the person that buys today just needs to wait a couple of months till another person buys and they can send the second person the rebate.  It just goes on and on. . . . . .   :whew:

Its true how few people actually follow through with the rebates after getting home. That is the whole schtick. I often participate in rebated buying, and always make sure to do my due dilligence and send them in. Heck i get a check from Remington about every two months for buying ammo.

You musta had the magic spell here Huntinbull. I just got back from the Post Office and there sat my rebate.

Seems like a lot of the rebates coming out these days are in the form of debit cards, as is this one.
My ISP / Phone company offers rebate points which are accumulated by paying your phone bill. For every hundred dollars you pay you get 100 points, or something like that, and every ten points is worth a buck or some damn thing

Anyway, I went through the motions a month or two ago to redeem some points and see what it was all about. They sent me a debit card for $60 bucks.

The days of checks are a thing of the past. Might have something to do with identity theft since the account numbers are on all checks.

Hey Jim,

I can't read the numbers on MY rebate card there.  I think I might also need the three digits on the back of the card.  It might be easier if you just send them to me in a PM or email since I wouldn't want anyone using MY rebate.

I'm sorry about the mishap Cooler.
In order to obtain a duplicate copy of your PM, as mentioned in prior published agreements, were going to need a few things.

First thing we'll need is the eleven digit verification code that you received when you signed up nine years ago. It should have been emailed to you on that day, and you would have needed it to activate your account.

Second thing we'll need for identification purposes, is the last four digits of your social security number, so that it may be matched to a profile in our members database. This is for your security as well as ours.

The third thing we'll need is a copy of your 2008 state income tax return, preferable the SD-100X form, to verify your social security number and permanent address.

And the last thing we will need is a written letter by you requesting the duplicate copy of the PM and why it is that you are requesting it. This must be signed and dated no later then Jan 11th 2004.

This information needs to be faxed to us between the hours of 12:00am and 1:30am any Tuesday during the month of April.
Or, between the hours of 2:15am and 4:20am any Wednesday during any month prior to April.

Late documents will not be accepted.

There is also $25.00 non refundable processing fee to process your request for this duplicate PM, which must be received before the documents are faxed.
Funds must be sent Western Union, city code FNF

If you have any further questions please feel free to call our toll free line open Sundays between the hours of noon and 12:15pm. Keep in mind all conversations on that line will be recorded for quality assurance.

Naaaaaa, when your ex wife files for bankruptcy and her name is on the house mortgage, so they put the house into foreclosure even though you got the house in the divorce and are still making payments.....you pretty much learn the process by heart! Trust me :doh2: :laf:

I now understand why most people don't get their rebate.
