Title: Red Bird hunt
Post by: HaMeR on February 09, 2009, 08:23:52 AM
What a time!! I sure missed out on meeting a few of the good folks here. I wish Jimmie in Ky the best over there. It's good to know Semp is doing better too. And too bad ol Bopeye didn't make it. I guess that's 3 reasons to try to make it next year now.  :yoyo:  I had a lot more fun than I expected which is hard to believe. Everybody there made me feel like a seasoned veteran of many LBL hunts/get togethers even tho this was my 1st. I even managed to wade thru all the BS & get a tidbit or 2 of good info about coyotes from these fellas.  :laf:  The terrain was rugged as you've seen in other threads already. But beautiful it was. Spring & fall would be a great time to be there for the scenery. Might have to think about that one. The accomodations were top flight as well. The lodge restaurant had very good food & the price was right.

Enough of the boring stuff. Let's see what the camera has to show.

Beautiful place to be.

Gramps & Kurtis walking back after a stand.

Free range cattle feeder.

Looks like Al & Frogman were hunting over the feeder for a cow elk.  :roflmao:

Yothuntr, Rich & Kasey.

Here's Pat. He just got done teaching Kurtis everything he knows about coyotes. He looks so proud to be able to pass on his vast amount of knowledge to our youth doesn't he??  :roflmao: :roflmao:  There's weedwalker Ed soaking up the knowledge & wisdom as well.  :yoyo:  Sorry Pat. This was just one of those "I gotta do this" pictures you know.  :laf:

What a view!! 5 mountain tops out across there.  :yoyo: If you look right above the "02" in the date you can see 2 trees standing taller than the rest. My coyote came out just above them.  :eyebrow:

Sure is a purdy dog.

He was a heavy fella. There is a nice black 2" tip on his tail too. He had enough black on him that when LinemanSteve saw him flip after the shot he thought I shot a black coyote. That woulda been cool but I'll take this fella too.  :yoyo:

Here's Frogman addressing the crowd. He is giving a seminar on coyote hunting. The crowd is totally engrossed.  :yoyo:   :roflmao: :roflmao:  Sorry Jim!! When I seen this Saturday night I just had to do this.  :yoyo:

Here's Kurtis taking a picture of me taking a picture of him taking a picture of me.    :laf: :laf: Kurtis is a good boy. He didn't want to leave. I was glad to have him along & sure hope I made a new Friend in him. Thanks for coming along Kurtis. I hope we can do the hunt again next year together.  :yoyo:

And last but not least. I'm not sure what I did to win this award. Hell I don't even know if it's a good thing or a bad thing!!  :roflmao: Thanks BITE ME!! Bopeye!! Whatever it takes to win the 1st annual Bopeye Bite Me Award I'm sure I did.  :laf: :laf:  With the crowd that hangs out here it's gonna be tough to repeat next year.  :yoyo:

Hi Jim. It was a pleasure being there. I had a lot of fun too. It's always a blast to pull down on anything. But it's especially fun on a coyote.  :yoyo:
Mike-- Thank You for skinning that coyote for me on such a short notice. I certainly appreciated it & I can't tell you enough just how much. It meant a tremendous amount to me. THANK YOU!!  :yoyo:  And I'm sorry I forgot to mention you in the above story.

Mike-- You're Welcome. It was a lot of fun & I hope you can make it next year too.

VV-- Yep I got me one!! If I would be any good at this gig I would have seen the other one & waited a few seconds for it to come out for Steve to crack.  :doh2:  I didn't have the FireBall with me. I two O floored him at 50-60yds. Caught him in the ribs on the right & punched thru the shoulder on the opposite side. He spun & flipped twice & that was it. Then I heard the 2nd one busting down thru the brush to my left.  :doh2:

Semp-- Sure woulda been nice to meet up with you but I understand. I hope you're doing better now!!  :yoyo:

Bopeye--        :roflmao: :roflmao:  Thanks Bop!! I hope things are better next year for ya!! See you then.  :yoyo:

Nice piece of fur.  Cat is probably thinking "am I next."

Yes it was a 204 with a 40gr Berger.  :yoyo:

That is the younger cat. the older cat just looks at it & walks away uninterested.  :laf:  And yes it does appear to have lost weight. Jimbo could probably explain exactly why that is.  :laf: :laf:

John-- That really was a nice looking coyote. I thought he was anyhow. I really like all the black on his back.

Al-- Yes Mike would remember that one. A big THANKS to him & those that helped him that night.  :yoyo: :yoyo:
