Four Iowa men have been charged with illegally pursuing coyotes with the use of snowmobiles. The quartet allegedly were chasing down coyotes in Clayton and Delaware counties. According to law enforcement officers, the men spread out and drove their snowmobiles through sloughs and fields to flush coyotes, then ran the animals over. The coyotes would be left behind either injured or dead.
DNR law enforcement agents acted on complaints from area hunters who witnessed or heard about the activity, and who thought the snowmobilers' actions were appalling
"We probably would not have made this case if not for concerned sportsmen and sportswomen who reported it," says Aron Arthur, the investigating conservation officer.
Why? Why do people do such things?
I hope the officials make a good example out of them and hit em with everything they can.
Bastards :madd:
:wo: You mean there is a wrong way to kill coyotes?
In the 70's up here they went after them with planes, ski-doos and anything else they could get after them with. I never seen the sport in it but there were guys that paid for their skidoos with their take. Didn't seem to hurt the population much either. Now they still do it for fun but getting caught is a mite more expensive.
THATS HOW WE FLUSH OUT WOMEN BACK HOME... :innocentwhistle:
LOL! back home they hide out in the bush do they?

They probably run them over, because carrying a loaded weapon on a snowmobile is illegal. Driving ditches and creek lines isn't very sporty, but to each their own.
Brian
I believe the Aussies call them "bush tucker"......... :eyebrow:

sounds like something that would happen in the south..with the snowmobiles being replaced with monster trucks...
Its good to know there are people (sportsmen and sportswomen) that do respect the wildlife still. Seems awfully stupid to have your Ski-Doo confiscated for evidence for running down coyotes wit it...I sure hope thats what the officers did.
QuoteTHATS HOW WE FLUSH OUT WOMEN BACK HOME
Were those the hairyback, cornfed type of women you guys chased out of the New England bush Nasty? :innocentwhistle:
Steve
Corn fed not so much hairy........the younger women 1 man can handle but the "mature" herd leaders you want 2 men on the snowmobile....one guy drives up along side of em and the other jumps off and bulldogs em....
:laf: :laf: :laf:
Dont laugh Steve, he's serious

Not enough open land in the South to do that, don't be picking on us Rednecks.
You cant drive a snowmobile fast around here .......you will be going off a cliff in no time! :nofgr:
Its just like snowshoe hare hunting you gotta get em when they cross the fields and powerlines :innocentwhistle:...its getting tougher now though....one of them must have watched one of those damn animal planet shows....instead of running the older females now form a defensive circle with the young ones in the middle..like musk ox and bison do....

I thought the bottom snowmobile was particularly well rendered :innocentwhistle:
I just seen on the news this morning they hung 3 people here in Wisconsin for doing the same thing with a group of deer.
Snomobile Thrill kill
They were trying to get young hot chicks away from the deer?
Sorry Jim I just couldn't resist. :roflmao: :roflmao:
Heck every year we get a few to hang themselves on the fences around here. The guy who lives just past my cow bait has probably ran down as many coyotes with a sled as any and he finally quit. The last time they found him unconcious and damb near froze to death. The whole family did it and trust me they loved doing it.
I've read in the The Varmint Hunter's Magazine where people would chase coyotes on horse back & shoot 'em w/ their ol' 45s. Guess the horses would really get into the sport too. :eyebrow: Now that's my kind of horse! ;yes;
Thats just dumb! I hope their machines get taken away as well as their licsence to drive.
That is just killing to kill.
If that were my land, I would have me some new snowmobiles and boots. They would be walkin back with cold feet.
Now if they were doin it in Alaska and chasing down brown bears...THEN ID BE IMPRESSED :yoyo:.....oh no, I feel another map coming on..... :readthis:
