I have seen more with the mange this year .....but I have only seen about 10 of them including some road kills.
The one frogman shot in Ky had it real bad too......
I think the one yotehunter got had it as well....
From what I saw the rest were not to bad for the Ky dogs.

So either not much mange has been noticed, no ones putting any fur down, or it's being kept secret. :laf:

Out of 107 coyotes 13 were the kind you just plain old don't want to touch.  Another 20 had just started losing hair.  I find it in the same areas mostly.  7 of the bad ones were 3 miles east and 2 miles North of my house.  All the ones right here at home were good.  I'm thinking that the ones that don't congregate around feedlots, chicken or pork barns are less likely to get it here.

I don't know about Brian and Stan, but Larry and myself have seen a BUNCH with mange.  It seems like we have to leave half of what we harvest laying there.  The last three we killed, had varying stages of mange. Many of them this season looked like they were just starting to get mange - as they were starting to get bare on their chests.  A few were so nasty and bare it was a wonder they were still alive.

We hunt a very broad area, and it didn't seem to be isolated to one location.

The year before, we only had a few that had mange.

Folks around this area are wondering if the population is getting near peak . They are seeing more and folks are taking a good number with snares from single farms. Highest number I have heard is 32 on one farm. Several others are reporting taking 20 or more form single farms. Tis could lead to more mange and toher diseases such as parvo and distemper outbreaks. Just got a call from a feller 20 miles east of me that wants me to come and kill a bunch of coyotes as they are bothering his stock.  He said at noon yesterday there were 7 in the corral and 3 had no tail fur.
