Today (Saturday 3/14/09) I got to join Bill and HaMeR for a coyote hunt near their homes in OH. Since my son Scott lives not too far away in Canton OH I went up and stayed at his place on Friday evening. Up early this morning at 5:45 AM. Met HaMeR near Dover OH and then picked up Bill at his house. We had a nice breakfast at a diner in West Lafayette OH then proceeded on to Coneville (i think??) Public Hunting area. We did five stands through the morning and early afternoon. It was a perfect day for hunting, started off cool in the low 30s then warmed up into the upper 40s. Winds were light and variable. Here in the East we have to put up with frequently shifting winds. Here are some of my photos . . .
Here is Bill at our first stand this morning . . .

On this stand I had the Scorpion placed out this haul road about 50 yards. Bill set up covering the right side of the road and Glen covered down over the left side while I watched up the road.

We started with some howls with the mouth calls then went to some distress sounds on the Scorpion. Finished with "pup in distress" sounds.
Here Glen and Bill are planning our next stand . . .

I had a fun time getting out and spending time with these two great guys. It was a beautiful day to be out in the woods. Our only success was getting the geese to honk, the crows all fired up, and some local dogs to barking. Of course any day out is a successful day far as I'm concerned. Thanks for having me up guys. Hope to see some of your photos too!
Jim
