WOW I sure wish you lived closer Al I would have you help me make one for Logan that Looks AWSOME :yoyo: :yoyo: :yoyo: :yoyo:
Sweet!! :yoyo: Looks like ya got a Purdy piece of board there
Lookin good Al!! :yoyo:
Thanks fellas......I am hoping that time and a couple more coats of finish will change the color some more.
nice job Al, thats one heck of a headboard :congrats:
It's cherry Al!! It'll darken.
How much it will darken depends somewhat on t finish. I would suggest several coats of tung oil. If you use the wipe on poly it will take on a slightly yellow tone. Doing it with BLO will take forever , but you can really make the grain pop if you wet sand the first coat.
I like a lot. I have an order for a stool . I have a couple of pieces of 1/4 sawn red oak or some crotch pieces I may try. She wants it made like the bottom of a windsor chair. She wants pretty wood. The only other option would be to cut a large piece of maple and spalt it. Jimmie
LOOKS GOOD YOU AAAASSS HOLE :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :yoyo: :yoyo: :yoyo: :eyebrow:
:yoyo: Looks REAL GOOD :yoyo: :yoyo:
You'll have to keep us updated Al, I'm curious to see the final product.
If you're wanting it darker as in aged cherry just put it in direct sun light. Cherry darkens quick in the sun.
If you want to know how well it's doing take a cut-off from that board & put it in the sun light at the same time as the head board. Cover a portion of the cut-off w/ something that won't let light through, like another block of wood. After an hour look under the block & see the difference. It'll darken quickly at first. One thing to watch for is don't let anything get on the head board like say a leaf. It'll leave a shadow in the wood. Guess you could call it tanning.
yeah yeah, tanning! :eyebrownod:
You got this thing done yet Al? what gives?
Been in the mountains........Fishing and hunting......What you been doing......
Making more room for all those pics your NOT posting, why? :laf:
