Post by: Silencer on April 01, 2009, 05:43:08 AM
The MLB is about to start, who's your picks ?  what number wins will they have ?

Of course  :bowingsmilie: The American League  I'm goin with my Yank's...  predicting 96 in the plus.

No......WE DONT NEED A-ROD.  If our pitchin staff will remain healthy, its going to be a fun year  :yoyo:  Cheeseburger Sabathia is something to watch, he can work that plate !!!!!

In the National League I'll go with the Phillies....92 wins.

anybody else have predictions ??????

The Reds & they WILL creep up to that magical .500 for the season mark.  :yoyo:

I think the Indians are gonna surprise folks by winning around 85 games.

I've got a bit of a rant about this one. :doh2:  Why is it that people whine and complain about illegal immigrants coming in and taking low paying jobs that none want in the first place, but you will let the same nations people come and play ball for millions of dollars/year and actually spend money to see them.  I mean doesn't it seem a bit odd to you guys.

In my opinion the high poverty nations play ball just for that chance.  Its not just an Americans kids dream, but a world full of kids dream to play the MLB.

And to be honest I'm not sure, but I dont think illegals are playing MLB.  They get them the paperwork they need.

I'm quite sure that the million dollar players get their status as "workers" fast tracked and such.  It just seems kinda/sorta weird that being mad at someone who is willing to clean toilets, fix flower beds and other menial tasks is okay while on the other hand paying big bucks for entertainers from the same country's.  I never saw a thread about the world baseball classic where they were all playing for their own country's.

I'm losing ya Barry, you mean a thread here, or in general ?  mlb.com had tons of stuff on it while it was occuring, who was playin for what country etc etc.
I dont follow the WBC in fact I think it hurts the MLB players more than anything by taking them away from their teams.  In fact, there was a certain pitcher who laid dormat for yada yada days that came back and wasnt worth a dern, he was 2 weeks behind the rest.

I meant a thread here.  No person making millions of dollars at his/her chosen profession should be two weeks behind at any time.  I have always loved playing and watching baseball but I would rather watch our local teams play in tournaments than watch the over priced "poor idols".

Agree with ya there, $$$$ wise its gotten WAY out of hand.  We dont have any local leagues going on anymore.  At one time we had the beer softball league on Sundays, that was a hoot.
But you can go and see the AA and AAA teams within a hour or two drive from here and it costs pennies compared to the big boys stadiums.

We could only hope for AA or AAA up here but there is good enough senior ball to make me enjoy.  Bob and Don are signed up for their seasons again and thats the important part for me.  I bought uniforms for one of the teams in Czar this year as my way of saying thanks to the hard work others put in for our youngsters to enjoy organized sports.

Ain't that the truth. I'm and Indians fan from way back, but I hardly ever watch MLB. I couldn't tell ya who any of the players are.

Now to go to Washington PA and watch the Wild Things, that's some cheap entertainment, and they play ball. None of that boring pitcher/batter thing like watchig MLB on tv, these guys do some major lead offs, steals, etc.. They play some aggressive ball, and like Vic said, " it costs pennies".

I don't think the yanks will take the east, thats over with since 01.

Red Sox will take the east. Many will be missed (at least by me) but Boston has good bats up and down the line-up.
Honestly, I wished Veritek didn't resign. Ya I know I know, he calls a good game but sucks at the plate. Maybe he should have slowed down on Boinking the NESN girls and his wife wouldn't take him to the cleaners.

EDIT: Silencer, would you like to put a friendly wager on Sox vs. Yanks this year? If sox have more wins, I win and so on.
