I don't know what the pencil on the left is made of. It's a pink wood but it's not Pink Ivory. I know the pen on the right is cherry burl tho. :yoyo:

NICE!!!..... :yoyo: :yoyo:
The one on the left could be "Quina" I just made a howler today from it and they look similar.
WOW Beautys there Glen real nice character in both of them
Them are awesome for sure
Very nice Glen...Tulipwood perhaps :wo:
Nice looking pens Glen. You sure do make em nice.
John
Very nice. How'd ya get the lil angel halo above em like that? :laf:
Paduk comes to mind for the pencil on the left
At any rate
Nice Job Glen!! :yoyo:
Purple Heart ??
Good lookin pens Glen.
Thanks guys. :yoyo: Quina could be what it is. It's not near dark enough for the other woods mentioned. Tulipwood is way too light also. This almost looks like a dyed wood but I don't think it is. And the Cherry Burl is just way cool. The dark grain lines are the beginning of spalting I think.
The cherry burl is, WAY cool.... :yoyo:

Thanks guys. But as always Mother Nature has more to do with the finished product than I do. I gladly give all the credit to those above me.

Jerry
:eyebrow: Very sharp Glen! :yoyo:
Thanks Jerry & Brad!!
Brad-- That stuff turned like a dream & was dry. I'm gonna drill some more with the 1/4" hole & give it a couple weeks & re-drill it again. :yoyo: I bet you're wishing now you would have waited for this one huh?? :eyebrow:
A couple more from that Cherry Burl. :eyebrow:

Glen has been taking private lessons from Dave Paul. They can both take a piece of pine and make it look like any exotic wood you want. I think I heard Glen say that you just have to use the right sized brush to get the burl to look right. I am not that talented and have to use a real exotic to even get it to look a little bit like it should. But, I am just not as talented as them.
Jerry
Aw now come on!!! I'm merely another pawn in Mother Natures scheme to bring this stuff to life. And besides,, they aint that hard to paint. Just give it a couple coats of Krylon!! :laf:
