Well if all goes well I'll have a new fishing pistol by 7:30am today. You know we grow them bigger up here, so once I get them in, I need a lil bigger "Bonker" :innocentwhistle:

Once I get it, then I'll tell the wife. :sneer:
Does the tip of the bullet stick out of the barrel a little bit when the are setting in the cylinder? That is ONE short barrel. :laf:
It looks comfortable as all get out. :yoyo:
We carry guns when we are fishing too......But for a very different reason....... :innocentwhistle:
In KY we have two legged meth bears sneaking around in the back woods. That 454 would come in mighty handy.
Not sure yet Jim, but I think its a 2 & 1/2 barrel.
This is one of those guns ya buy, and ya hope ya never have to use it. Wyatt turns 10 this year and is probably gona be going fishing with me every chance he can get this summer, and while fending of a bear with a fly rod seems like a good idea to me, I think I better arm up a lil more with him going.
Semp this oughta do the trick. I had been watching and looking for one for a while, but they weren't popping up locally unless it was the .44. Well this one popped up last night for a smoke'n deal and I was on it with in minutes, heck even called the guy at home at mid night. :innocentwhistle: I'll meet up with him in about an hour and make the transaction.
Nice, that'll get the job done :yoyo:
Fending off bears with a flyrod LOL :roflmao:
Todd,
You are a better man than I am to shoot a .454 out of a 2.5 inch barrel. I am thinking broken wrist or barrel mark between the eyes from the recoil. How many rounds do you think it will take to sight it in?
Jerry
The recoil shouldnt be all tha bad. Short barrel cant build up that much pressure or get the bullet moving as fast as a longer barrel. You know all that equal and oppieset reaction stuff. With that said I still dont think I would sight in with 454 calaber. ME I would use the 45 for sitting in just to help with the recoil. Let us know how it shoots.
Well Jerry I fgured the extra weight I was bleesed with might help me anchor it, but just incase I'll have my wife duck tape to my hands so I don't toss it.
The guy that sold it to me said its a great shooter and his only advice was "Hold on to it." :roflmao:
I'm supposing she'll kick a little but I'll sight her in with the 45 long colts, and then confirm it with the .454's. :sneer:
I used to practice the rock and lock shot from the hip with the .357 just incase mister bear left me with little time, but I will be passing on that drill with this pistol. :shck:
The wife took it better then I thought. :innocentwhistle:
Looks like a nice "little" gun
and I'd say more effective then the fly rod. :eyebrownod:
Todd that doesn't look near big enough to hurt a bear when thrown at him, nor is he likely to trip over it or get caught up in the sling helping to facilitate my escape  Nice looking gun though.
(Todd looks around) Pssssst! Barry its not for the bear! :innocentwhistle: its to shoot my fish'n partner in the foot with, so I can make my escape.
QuoteOnce I get it, then I'll tell the wife.
I like the way you think
Nice grab Todd
Don't hae to be faster than the bear, just the limping, blood smelling fishing partner. Got it!
Huntinbull
WHOA??? Be sure to wear your hearing protection when you touch that cannon off!
Jim

Soooweet!!!
Are ya going to reload for it? :eyebrow:
Flyrods? No wonder you got Grizz up thar. :doh2: My ancestry used buggy whips. Ain't gonna find a live Grizz in these here parts unless it's inna zoo. :nono:
:laf:
I never knew they made revolving grenade launchers. Must be an Alaskan thing. :yoyo:
Hey Todd
Just wondering. After my Alaskan visit I got to thinking about bear guns. Have you done much shooting with the Ruger Alaskan? What do you think about it?
Semp she's sighted in but I do very little extra shooting with her. :innocentwhistle: SHe'll do just fine I'm sure. I'm going to shoot it a bit more with a buddy who has a couple of big pistols in about two weeks. I'm going to try to shoot her faster then I should, but will let ya know how she goes.
