Well, I just got this finished in time for it to be spoken for prior to me getting it on the website â€" I hate it when that happens. Anyway I thought I would share it with you. It is a piece of Saltwater Redwood that I sent off and had stabilized. The Stabilization guy said that he really doesn’t like working with Redwood since the same thing that makes the wood resistant to water and insects also makes it resistant to the stabilization fluids. Before you ask, I should probably tell you that they guy is probably not interested in taking more “outside†business. Since there could be some exposed wood grain that was not stabilized, I hit it with a couple of coats of Teak Oil. I thought the Teak Oil might change the coloring a little, but it made no change whatsoever.
Thanks for looking,
Jerry

Is that stuff cool or what!! :yoyo:
Wow, that IZZZ cool. So what what exactly is saltwater redwood? Is it exactly what you'd think it is?
Jim,,
It is Redwood that has been salvaged after years in the ocean or salt water coves. Without the stabilization it is pretty soft like regular redwood, but the stabilization really hardens it up and also brings out some of the colors.
Jerry
Lookin good Jerry.
Real nice.
Nice looking call.
John
That's a Looker! Bet that sinker log never dreamed of ending up as something as elegant as a "Hawks Feather" call. Nice Jerry!
Dave
Jerry-- Yesterday Norm Abrams made a chaise lounge from saltwater redwood recovered from the Great Salt Lake. They showed how the pilings were removed & made into useable timber. I guess he seen that good looking call & didn't want to be outdone so he built a lounge. :eyebrownod:
