Colo. City Council Will Decide Fate of Problem Coyotes
6/23/2009
According to a the Colorado Springs Gazette, the city council will consider the adoption of a new proposal to allow citizens to exterminate pest coyotes in the area.
“Former Councilwoman Margaret Radford [made the proposal] after a constituent approached her with concerns about aggressive coyotes and existing city laws that prevented him from using a firearm to kill the animals,†the report stated.
Requirements under the proposal would require all citizens interested in shooting pest coyotes to obtain a permit, wear an orange vest or jacket "with a light reflective section visible from the front and back.†Firearms may not be discharged during daylight and the "targeted" coyote can only be shot within 50 yards of the shooter.
