Title: Coming in to the Turkey call
Post by: LBLDOG on September 14, 2009, 05:30:53 PM
I was sitting in the Turkey blind this morning yelping and purring to the turkeys. I had 2 decoy stakes out, 1 at 20 yards & 1 at 30 yards for range. I was watching some turkeys out one window and glanced out another window and here comes a yote ran between my range stakes like a barrel racer . The yote spooked and started running across the field and I stopped him for a short  minute and off to the woods he went. The turkeys kind of layed down in the high grass and the yote never seen them.

I hear of this happening all the time to guys during the spring season.  Never happens to me lol

Thats neat that the turkeys layed down like that.

I'd would have figured those turkeys would have went airborne in a heart beat.        They must have been a good distance away from the coyote.

Semp they were 80 or so yards away but in grass knee high, there were times when I would loose them while I was watching them.  The place I hunt has a big area of mowed grass and a area  that has high weeds. I had my blind backed in under a big tree  and the yote evidently was making a b-line to my calling until he figured out Woa a hunting blind . The yote didnt figure this out till about 25 yards. THe turkeys were working to my left and I was watching the Turkeys , unti lthe yote went between my 20 & 30 yard markers.
