Finally Got One Down

I started a new job today and I wasn't sure what kind of hours I'll be working (Saturdays etc) so I figured after my dentist appointment yesterday I better get out there even if I only get a couple of stands in before dark.
I found this area a little while back and it looks sooooo good I had to  try it first. Well I got out one of my new calls (I'm addicted to handmade calls) from Kerry Carver and tried some bird sounds on it like I found on this site. Then I did some bunny blues with an open reed call also from Kerry. Within 5 minutes I see movement down the ridge leading into a swampy area. Of course I was raising my hand with a call to make some more noise and it spotted the movement, so I froze and she turned to look behind her so I brought up my gun and took the shot. Bang,flop,flop ,flop. I quick got on my howler from KeeKee to see If I could bring in any friends that might have been behind her, but no takers.
So I get out the camera and start taking pics 
Here she is with my 22-250 Striker and my calls on a lanyard I made from THO's instructions from PM (glad I printed it all out )


Here is a view of what I was looking at. She was just to the left of red and back at 83 yds.  I use the decoy to help with all the close encounters I get in this area, at least I hope it will give me a little time to get a shot.


The whole thing reminded me of KeeKee's first video with the shot he took at the one that was just visible down in front of him.
This area is just north of Milwaukee with lots of bunny hunters along with hikers on the trails which are all over the place. I passed 6 trucks with possible hunters and 4 people walking dogs on the way to the stand. Just so you know it's a busy place with lots of cover for old whiley. It's long and somewhat narrow. It sure is a good feeling getting one in this area.

Here's another one I got when Blakcoyote was calling on 24, Dec.   I call him Harry    I use a 4.5x14 Lupy rifle scope.


and here is one of the speed goat I got in Wy with my MOA in 6.5x284 (438 yds) with a 140g Amax. It went down before my son could get the binocs on it after putting down the range finder. According to Exbal my ballistic program I was good out to 625 yds, Speed and energy.

I shoot handgun silhouettes and like the lighter gun to carry around for hunting. Besides I just like handguns.

Nice job Mike. :highclap:I wouldn't want to hunt around all that commotion you do ,I like it up here,nice and quiet,usually,unless someone is sceamin at coyotes in the middle of the night.

How about a infopost about pistols for coyotes & accessories that your would use, like that 6" bipod.

Right now I use a sling around my neck and rest the gun on shooting sticks and push out on the gun with slight pressure to help hold it steady. The shooting sticks were in another direction so I just rested the gun on my knee for this shot. The bi pod is if I can get a prone shot, works out a lot better in WY for those long shots with the shorter grass too. Shooting silhouettes during the summer gives me lots of practice with my guns and I feel very comfortable shooting with them.  Even if it's just a Contender in 22 lr, it's still good practice. 
BTW all the gun pics in my photobucket aren't mine, I was taking pics for a friend of a friend when he was selling them and I had the camera.
