I've already tried 3 shots at 470??   some yards. The 3rd shot hit close enough in front of it that it got tired of playing.  :laf: I doubt I'll ever hit 500yds.  :nono: :nono:  At that distance the CB slug would bounce off & go  :shock2: !!  :alscalls: :alscalls:

Busted 3 more this evening Jim!! Wait'll you hear how fer these ones were!!  :yoyo: :yoyo:

This is a real nice hog. Very thick & solid. The 39gr BK just flat laid him out!! The insides were just sloshing around in it's chest.   :eyebrownod:  Chip shot for the 204. 137yds.

Here's where it gets fun now. Diane & I are walking to the top of the field to look down over the back side. We're no more than 60-70yds from the truck when Diane says groundhog on your left. Here it popped up just as Diane glanced that way. I rested the sticks against my leg & flipped the safety off on the Marlin 17HMR & brought the crosshairs up til I seen eyeballs & BANG!! Oh yeah!! I nailed that little bugger real hard. I stepped it off & by golly it was right where I thought it was. 25 FEET away!! Talk about a perimeter breach!!

This is how I found it.

Then as we're walking back down the hill to the truck I simply say stop & Diane does. She always obeys.   There in the grass is another furballs head peeking at me thru a steely eyeball. I swear this one was in full attack mode. Thankfully I seen it just in time & the lil HMR barked & another "good" hog was re-born. Another stellar shot that was stepped off at an incredible 22 FEET!! We thought since they were getting closer we better get to the truck right away to avoid a disaster.

Way to go Glen!  Looks like you two had a fine evening.  Good thing Diane had your back, otherwise those chucks would have over run you. :alscalls: Would have been hand to paw combat.   :laf:

My longest shot was 626 yards with the Swift.  Dialed in what I thought was the right amount of clicks...From the prone position, I touched one off at a chuck across the valley.  Saw the chuck collapse, then a second later heard the "whump" come drifting back.   It was a sweet moment!

"Kentucky windage"   :laf: :laf: :laf:

We call that chasing chickens..... In my off hand silhouette days the stationary iron chickens would still require a bit of a lead.... :laf: :laf:
