I put in a large order for Hippo Ivory about a month ago.. after a lot of struggle it finally came in!..   I needed some for toneboard material, thought I'd share a few pics, just for fun.

Here's the order.. the large one was ordered for a solid Ivory call for a buddy...

Better pic:

A future toneboard:

Turned down:

The whole lot from above at different stages, there were 3 that were to small in diameter for my toneboards... some are getting close.. they don't have my finish or the ramp cut yet.:

Closed reed? Open reed? Special call? Do tell?

I'm still thinking closed reed for me in the near future.

Hi Buddy!  I will look forward to the call.     I am sure that whoever gets the call will be happy and those tone boards look great.

LOL it'll be an open reed call.  My eye's are starting to cross staring at these things, they aren't as much fun as the barrels.

Interesting.
Just out of curiosity...what part of the country do you have to get something like that from?

I've bought it from several places... one out of WA.. one in Texas.   I even think I've bought from Fla.  I was planning on updating the toneboard manufacturing here but I've run into a "wrinkle"... I guess I have some bad scroll saw blades and I've ruined about 6 toneboards...  :argh:  I've ordered some better quality blades (  who knew there were better scroll saw blades?)  Seems most blades are stamped out and through the process of stamping they get their edge.. but it make's 'em cut to the right... I've got some on the way that have a ground edge.  I hope that will help.
