THO Game Calls

This is something that I have been working on for the past week or so.  I am going to make a couple of changes, mostly thinning out the barrel of the call just a bit, and using a mouth piece that tapers down onto the call.  The mouth piece that is on this call is my new style, and works well (I think) with the burls and other wood calls, but this call I think would bennifit from a mouth piece that flows into the barrel rather than the upcut bottom portion.

This is what I meant when I said that the best critique you can get is from yourself.   What you want your calls to look like, to represent.  It is a process, and there is no end, you are always evolving and changing this and that.  The day you stop, you're probably dead so don't worry about it.

Anyway, I give the prototype to the Flame Bonker LOL

Flames or maybe turbocharged.  Either way, this is a beautiful call and one that I don't think will see the field.  Could see the field, just don't think it will.

LOL Jerry, I told you it was a prototype - the barrel found it''s way into the trash and the mouth piece found it's way onto a nice tiger striped maple barrel.

The key is, for me anyway, I have the picture and now I have something to work off.

I'll post some more pictures as this call goes through the development stages.  I don't plan on making more than one of them, but who knows.   Might just forget the whole idea LOL.

Al .thats fantastical, how about draping the mouthpiece rim over the call body with the same design as the rim of the barrel
that is, flames spilling over on to the barrel. Or is that what you meant?

THO Game Calls

I had that idea, and it is probably what I am going to try to do.  It will be touchy as I will have to get a good fit between the barrel and the mouth piece, but I think it can be done.  The best way to do it, I think, is to turn the mouth piece first and fit the barrel to it, then carve the barrel.

I plan on bringing the flutes in the flames up farther on the barrel and opening them up more, with more curves.

I also think that by turning an upward lip on the end of the barrel, I can bring some of the flames up and out -

I'll keep playing with it when I have the time.

Eyeball remover, that's rich! Only you could come up with that Jim. Serriously, that is a very cool call. I can't wait to see the next evolution of it. Keep tinkering at her Al, it should be sweet.

I've been wanting an  Acrylic  call too, just have to figure which one.
I've been making lanyards with your instructions and they sure work better than anything I had before. Even made a yote carrier too. Thanks for all the help.
