Picked up the Model 70 Safari Classic .458WM this afternoon. Looks and feels good.

Replaced the bottom metal with a Williams Firearms one-piece Oberndorf. Had the action tuned, and slicked up.
Since I'll be shooting mainly 450gr. Barnes Banded FN Solids, I had a hardened shim soldered in the front of the mag box as I was concerned with the mag box taking a beating, and over time possibly getting deformed from the abuse.

Internal cross-bolts, aluminum pillars, and glass bedded.
Then had all the metal except for the bolt cerakoted graphite black.

8lbs 10oz naked.

After the first of the year (deer season ends) I'll take it out and start hammering some tree stumps.

I need to take some better pictures, but this gives one the gist of it.

The Winchester M70 Safari Express .458 WM in the Echol's / McMillan stock loves 450gr. North Fork FN Solids, Barnes Banded FN Solids, North Fork Cup Point Solids, and North Fork Softs with 72gr. of AA2230. All bullets shoot to the same POI at 40 yards.

Like a maidens soft caress.

Now the .458WM is like getting slapped by a tomboy.  :eyebrownod:
