Last year sometime I picked up a new rain suit for the truck. They were on sale purdy cheap & I got a set for Diane too. They are very lightwieght like the FroggToggs & will tear easily out in the woods. I decided to not buy a new camo rain suit for Spring turkey season & just wear the Dri-Ducks suit I got. But the problem would have been the briars tearing it up. So I improvised a little. I decided that I would wear the Dri-Ducks over just a pair of shirts. Then I would wear my camo over the rain suit. Well I gotta tell you this was the idea of the year for me!! My pants were soaked to above my knees & I was dry!! These lightweight suits are not too hot either. I was walking as much as 600yds to get to where I wanted to be & was comfy the whole time. The suit never got unbearable til after about 10:30 or so after the temps got above 70*.  So if anybody is looking for a lightweight rain suit for hunting but is afraid of them being shredded don't be. If your camo pants can take the beating from the brush then you will stay nice & dry.

I'm certain I am not the 1st to do this.

Interesting.
Our fork truck drivers go through a couple suits a year, I should look into those. But $13 bucks sounds scarey. :wo:

It did to me also. But mine held up thru turkey season here. They might get a bit warm on a forklift in the Summer but they would stay dry.

Good post.  I've hunted that way, with rain caot & pants under a soft outer layer, but did it to keep quiet. Never thought of how it protects the waterproof layer.

We DO need some rain gear. :laf:

I never thought about doing that to be quiet so we both got some good from this one!! Thanks!!
