My wife and Daughter are out of town today and tomorrow. My 5yr old and I are headed out to do some calling. This is Jackson's first coyote hunt. We set up this morning and there was a really heavy frost at 26  degrees. We slipped into a hayfield on our hunt club and got all set up. Jackson was sitting between my legs and covered up with camo net .I played Lightening Jack for a few minutes when I first saw him top the hill and through a hedgerow and into range. He was cutting to my right and with Jackson sitting in my lap I struggled to get aimed at him. As he started to get across the field I popped two quick rounds at him, missing. As he was running he took one glance at my decoy and made 180 degree turn and headed right for it.  That was a bad mistake. I nailed him the third time. Here is Jackson with the coyote.

After this we went to another property we have and set up in a road in a pine thicket. The stretch of the road was about 70 yds long. I started with Lil Jack and played for a minute or two. Then played a Kiyi and immediately this dog jumped out into sight at the end of the road. I popped her right between the eyes.
One our third set we called in a grey fox but I was unable to get a shot on him. I only saw it briefly as it crossed the road.

Jackson wanted his chance at a coyote too so here he is with his BB Gun practicing.

It was great hunting coyotes with Jackson. I was excited for him to get to see them. The female was 30 lbs and the blonde male was 36lbs.

My granddaughter will be five next month and I hope to get her out, she already does great with my hand calls. And she loves playing with my e caller while teasing the dog.
