At 10:30 last night i was eating trout...ramps...fried potatoes...mac n cheese...and bisquits lol. Doesnt get much better than that.

I think we go through this every year, cause I dont know if we have them here. But are they like little onions?

They are in the onion family.  They are delicious although they have a very strong odor.  Here is a link with some pics of them.  the ones in the pics are a little more mature than the ones I picked.  The ones I picked had not really broke ground yet but were delicious fried in bacon greese.

Jim, ramps and festivals honoring them maybe a southern thing but I suspect some of us southern folks just like to have an excuse to throw a rubbin'.  One thing for sure when ya' eat a big bait of ramps you will soon find out who your true friends are. 



*Southern translation: a rubbin' = a bash, blow out or party where "Hey Bubba.... hold my beer and watch this" is sometimes heard

Usually they are known as ramps in the south but this vegetable can go by other names such as wild leeks (to non-southerners).
