Went out this AM for a little walk around on 150 acres of very nice land. Luckily I had the CZ712 with me & some turkey calls. Around 9:30 I was walking up the trail when I seen 1 blue head at the top about 50yds up. I just froze & when it turned I knelt down on the trail. Immediately I realized I couldn't get to a setting position without being busted so I just laid there. Turns out there were 3. I yelped & clucked a couple times to get their attention. They seemed to want to come down the trail but decided not to. They were staying on the ridge trail. So I yelped again as they angled away & watched as they started into the woods towards me about 60yds away. One jumped on a fallen log & looked for the other hen that was down there. That was when the real hen up top started yelping. So I just gave it back to her the same way as best I could. We exchanged verbal jabs 4 times with me getting louder each time. Then it all went silent. So I waited about 1 minute & just watched the 3 hens. They were totally confused as to which way to go. So I soft yelped 2 more time & they just walked right down to me. I had to wait for separation then lowered the boom on the young lead hen. She fell over where she stood at 15yds. It was 9:40 when I looked at my watch.

Thanks guys!! I had a great weekend in the field. Even tho I only tallied about 6hrs total I managed to put some food in the freezer & make some "good" crows out of live ones. These are the times when I think about how precious our outdoor activities are to us.

Good hunting to all & be Safe!!!!!!!
