Here is today's work on the call from the post yesterday entitled, "In My Mind's Eye"...

The call is almost understated, as I should perhaps have been more ornate, but sometimes simplicity speaks volumes to me...

I am ALMOST there!!! The wood only has two coats of Teak oil on it, with several more to go, but the horn and antler are finished/fitted... It will take another couple more days to have the final finish I desire on the wood portion....it is totally finished inside as well....the reed sleeve is installed, but I have not placed the brass reed in it as of yet.

I undercut the ridges on either side of the rounded lanyard groove, tried to show them in the pics....

The antler/wood/horn went together as I hoped, with no discernable seams...

I will try to show all sides...I was told by a true master that EVERY side had to be "There" not two or three but all....it is on this one,no visible flaws....even to me  :whew:

Please let me know what you think....I feel this is my best to date......

Very cool!

That is a very sharp looking call. Looks like it went together perfectly. I really like the choice of wool. That tulip looks a lot like some canary wood I used once.

Understated,  I'd say not..
More ornate,   Nadda
Simplistic,  Looks pretty hard to do to me.......with just the right amount of contrasting/complimentary materials
I don't know if this is your best one yet, but I do know it looks fantastic.

Another great job Joe.

Joe I love the progress pictures.  Makes the call personal in a way.  From raw material to polished result.  Great looking stuff, love seeing it!!
