Bills Custom Calls

Went hunting today and had a great time.we took turns calling. The first 2 sets produced nothing. The third one I thought was a bust before we even set up.We walked close to the ridge line going in to the woods the wind to our backs. When we reached the woods the leaves were very loud we had a tree fall as we walked past it.I just thought we were wasting our time.so we got set up we set along the hill side with the wind hiting our side we looked down into the hollow.the person calling set between the 2 shooters ,and started with a raspy contton tail, shuffling leaves and more calling for about 10 minutes.I look straight in front of me about 50 yards and crawling up trough the brush is a coyote looking straight at me I can't move. The guy calling had taken a break so there I sit for what seemed like 10 minutes, but only about 15 seconds. As soon as he starts calliing again the coyote looks over and up to where he is setting and going in that direction. He got between 2 logs laying there and that was my shot.No more then 25 yards my bet shot was to hit him in the spine, but I hit the rotted log in front of him and showered him with wood chips and he was gone.We spent about 20 minutes looking for him with no luck no blood only thing we found was where the leaves we tore up we he got out of there.First time I ever calling one in this close, and I had to mess it up.I thought I was hooked on coyote hunting before, but this just makes it more addicting.

That is awsome Bill, I wish I could have been there with ya. I went fishing today and caught 2 little ones that I thought were trying to committ suicide, or trying to school with my lure, not sure. Anyway, you'll get one soon enough. I know you will.

You're getting warmer Bill! Next time it'll be fur on the floor.

So what do you think you did wrong?  I know you're going it over, & over, & over in your head. :laf:

Bills Custom Calls

What I did wrong was Not hitting this coyote  :laf: Should have taken just a little more time before shooting he didn't even know I was there.

In the heat of battle I would say Bill put the crosshairs where he wanted to hit. The problem was that at 25yds he was still shooting about 1 1/2" low.

Better luck next time Bill!! I know you'll bust a yote soon. You definitely have what it takes to squeeze on one!!

Have you stopped shaking yet?? :laf:

The shaking has pretty much stopped a small tremor once in awhile when I think about it.

Did ya get us a pix for the Bloopers Page?  :roflmao:

awh

Bill I have been thinking about this all day and think I figured it out. When you got that yote in the scope you were still thinking about the new lathe and wondering if that old log was good enough to turn calls.....so ya tested it with a piece of lead to see just how hard it was. :roflmao:
