Here is a picture of 3 big males I killed on one stand during mating season in January 2006. They came from 3 different directions within a few minutes of each other. 42 lbs., 46 lbs., and 52 lbs., all responding to my old Primos howler that I have called in more big males with than any other howler.  It was a real rush having 3 big males come in to one stand.

Man you guys have some big coyotes, I don't think I've seen many coyotes over 40 lbs.

Catskinner: I have stated several times that I think they have evolved to match the animals they are hunting. They are hunting in packs a lot, and taking down some big calves around here. For the first 5 years of the 14 years I have hunted coyotes, I seldom killed one over 40 yds, and only one over 50, but that has changed a lot over the years.  Needless to say, the bigger coyotes are alpha males and females, and I believe it takes extreme tactics to fool them.
