I came in contact with a crop/sheep farmer quite a few yrs back. He had coyotes killing his sheep & eating very little. He kept them in an outside pen. Connected to his barn. The sheep fencing was 4' tall welded wire. The sheep killing continued so he attached longer wooden fence posts to his already 4' fence posts. Then added another 4' high welded wire fencing. Yet his sheep killing continued. After that is when I came in contact with him.

I met him one day & he shown be his sheep pen & all of his land boundry's. I told him I will hunt his land hard & try to kill them. I also told him, his sheep killing was most likely caused by. "Spree killing" or other wise "sheep killing coyotes, teaching their yearlings how to kill sheep".

His land section was part of a 1x2 miles in total mass. The 1x2 mile land section was Surrounded by gravel roads. Around the center of that 1x2 mile rolling hill land. Was a long wide strip of timber & tall prairie grasses, which was about 1/2 mile long.

Every day I hunted that 1x2 land. One snow covered day. The snow developed an ice crusty layer on it. It became very loud & & slippery walking. I seen that pair of coyotes bedded down out near the 1/2 mile fence line. I snuck in on that pair on their cross-wind. I got to with around close to 400' yards of the large one. And around 300+ yards from the female. Who was bedded down lower on the large hill side. I shot at the male & hit right under him. The female too off to my North West & paused looking back for her mate. I shot her in the throat & she dropped dead.

Day after day I hunted for that large coyote in that 1x2 mile land mass. I never laid eyes on him again. But found his tracks going in & coming out of that section. His paw print was 3"long. What I noticed about that 1x2 mile land mass. No other coyote trespassed on it for the duration of that Winter. I found that behavior as an oddity.

The interesting part of those sheep killers. Was after I killed the female. The sheep killing stopped. The following year. On another farm 2 miles down the road. Another sheep farmer. Started having his sheep killed. I suspected that sheep killing male. Found a receptive female & paired up. Then got her into sheep killing? Who knows for sure?
