Every year I put a topper on my truck around late September through January and last year through March. I take it  off in the spring to haul farm stuff and have access to my gooseneck hitch to haul equipment.

I used some pallet fork extenders to make things to lift the topper.

Setting it on the truck

And on

My missus helped me install my homemade "Decked" System. I got the idea and basis for the plans from "The Frugal Sportsman" on youtube. The credit is his.

I can flip over the plywood if I need a flat surface for something, even to lay out some foam and a sleeping bag if needed.

Room for tire chains, ratchet binders, tools, a shotgun/rifle compartment, and a compartment for ammo, coffee pot, water, etc.

cubby holes for misc. items

Super handy!
I love the long box. My god it's tough to find a truck around here with a usable box on it. :iroll:

My last two trucks had the short bed. They were ok, but I don't think I'll ever go back to one. 8' is so much better.
