Jay, you should hooked that thing through the dorsal fin and through it back in. Judging by the time day in your pic, if you woulda thrown it back in hooked, in about 4 feet of water, you stood a pretty good chance of picking up whopper.

I've got a lot to learn about fishing. 
Bet we threw back a dozen plus of those lunkers.
Did manage a 3 pounder we kept and some carp we didn't keep.

Growing up we used bluegill and set out jug line and limb lines, went home and checked them in the morning.  The fish caught themselves back in the old days.
