 And now............  The rest of the story!
   After losing the beard I was just a little bummed.  Decided to make another run at 'em.  Headed down friday night but ended up spending Sat.  hunting morels and drinking beer. The lady at the gas station didn't know how to sell the license.
  Found a couple big sacks of shrooms  and you'll never guess what else..   A turkey beard!!!!!   And almost a full set of tailfeathers.  Dang coyotes!       Hunted hard this morning but no luck. A couple distant gobbles early but couldn't pin em down.  Oh well,,,,,  Life is good. Got a fridge full of shrooms and a replacement beard.
