Where have I been all night?

Raced home from a long day at work  :whew: to fulfill a promise.

But despite Dad's crabbyness from forcing this into the schedule on a weekday, it all paid off.





Now i gotta git to bed :sleep:

Jim, how do you prepare your pannies ?  fillet ? skin and cook with bones ?  just curious on how others do it.

i fillet mine takeing the skin off in the process. thats usually how i determine if i want to keep one or not, if it aint big enough to fillet back it goes. momma doesnt like to pick bones.

I fillet everything, panfish, bass, pike, walleye, you name it....leaving the fillet attached at the base of the tail and I use that to aid in the skinning which is the final process of removing the fillet.

Never ate a bone, never put fish on the table with bones in...and never will.
I thank my Pa for the how to. He was a private guide on the Mississippi for many years and taught me ho to fillet leaving all the bones and no meat. Man was he fast at it!  :shck:  Now the kids ask me how I do it so fast.

I can only hope they pick it up, because picking through looking for bones, or watching carefully as you try to enjoy it, plain ole sucks.

When I was 11 my step father made fish for supper that someone didnt know how to fillet. That was the first and last time I ever swallowed a bone. I swear to god I thought I was gonna die. I started to hyperventilate.

My real father showed me how to fillet after that and I vowed to never eat or serve fish that had bones again....or even may possibly have bones...and never have.  :wink:

I always fillet as well, but growing up with the grandparents its always seemed we were pickin through bones.  Never understood why my grandad wouldnt fillet.

I fillet every catfish & bass that I put up but bream & crappie always get cooked whole. Pans are easy to eat that way & taste better (in my opinion) whole.

+1 when I was about 10 my mother was given some fish that wasn't filleted and halfway through the meal my little brother started to gag and the next thing I knew I was trying to get a hold of a bone embedded in his throat It was only sticking out about a quarter inch. When I got it pulled out it was almost two inches long.  :puke:
sometimes I wonder....is that getting closer..... then it hits me

hopefully she learns well from trainin you and is as successful with trainin her husband when she gets one.  :biggrin: things go so much smoother in a relationship  when men just do as theyre told   LOL  :wink: :biggrin:
