Tuesday I went into the hospital and had a surgey done on my right knee. I had a torn meniscus, DR opened it up and cut out the torn cartelidge. I left the hospital feeling no pain, runnin my mouth to the wife about hunting again this weekend.
She kept warning me about the local they used on my knee would wear off and I'd reconsider that hunting thing..

Damn if she wasn't right  :doh2: about 4:30 that afternoon it wore off and WOW you talk about pain and swelling :holdon:

Since then I have been eating the pain pills and gritting my teeth and workin on moving my leg again. Finally tonight I am able to put pressure on my leg and only need one crutch now  :highclap: It's still a little wobbly but I have 2 days until the weekend, I think I can do it!!!

I tell ya, I wouldn't wish this on an enemy..That DR kicked my butt. I'll try and get some pics to show ya all, my right knee is about 2 times the size of my left one  :puke:

Wish me luck, I gotta get on that buck i posted about before he roams off to other territories.

I think if I was stalking a deer like that I'd be hunting from a wheelchair at a time like this. :laf:

 I'm not sure how you'd drag him out of the woods though.

Good to hear all went well for ya

Hey, JD, did you have arthroscopic surgery?  Or did the doc actually cut the knee open?  There is a big difference in the two.

What ever it was, don't over do it!  Your knee is weak right now.  And you could easily tear it again.  I would give it some time before putting pressure on it.  Definitely do not climb any trees!

Doc Semp

Ouch!! I learned that the vicoden is a must, and it was to early to be putting that much pressure on it last night :doh2:

I woke up this morning in alot of pain.

Semp, it was arthroscopic. Two small incissions on each side of the knee cap is how he got in there.

I'm sure it will be a while before I can use my climber, so I will probably be setting up my ground blind soon and give it some time.

I feel for your wife JD!   I've somehow been fortunate enough to have two girlfriends during a timeframe in which they've undergone knee surgery like that.  Please don't be ashamed if she has to carry you up stairs- or limp you out of the truck- we wouldn't laugh at a man in a condition like that.  Especially if he posted pictures.   :sneer:

Glad to hear so far so good, now the fun recouping part.  :nono:
I wouldn't over do it either, next weekend should be good.
You should have time before he starts chasin does and leaving the area.

Sorry to hear about the knee problem, J.D., but glad to hear you are correcting the problem.  I think that is the same problem Rich Cronk is having an MRI on.  Prayers on the way for both of you.

Damn the knee JD, go get that buck. The knee will heal............... later!!!!!!!!

canine

LOL, That's what I'm sayin Bob...That's why my buddy and I are goin tomorrow to build me a ground blind :eyebrownod:

We have bucks chasin does already...granted it's the teenagers but it won't be long now when the cruising starts.

Damn this knee!!

Jason, I have run her butt off for me the last couple days....I don't think I'll catch any recourse from her about leaving the house for a while...LOL

My suggestion to you Buddy is it's easier to get another buck another time than to get another knee another time.  You think it hurts this time?  Do ya think it'll hurt less next time?  :innocentwhistle:
You'll hate youself later in life iffen you don't let that knee heal real well now!  :nofgr:

Rich

JD,

I had my MRI last night, and the surgeon will tell me later this afternoon what the results were. He suspects a torn meniscus in my right knee. I probably  caught the disease over the internet from YOU ya dirty CANINE.  Thanks a million for posting the extreme pain I will have after surgery, I really appreciate it. I am actually relieved that the joint itself  is ok. Recovering from orthoscopic surgery for meniscus repair should be a lot shorter than total knee replacement. The sooner I can get back out there after coyotes, the better.

I'm the new guy on here but I have had the same knee surgery that you had done. I didn't listen to the Dr. close enough and went fishing with a freind about a week and a half post op. ended up screwing up all the docs work and ended up with both ligaments on each side of the kneecap blown apart cause I didnt have the proper knee strength to do what I wanted to do. Was out of commissision from Oct. - April of last year. Just take it easy it only takes one missed step.Hope your feeling better.
Dan.

Rich, I didn't know it was contagious...Sorry about that.....I was stretchin the truth about the pain factor, it doesn't hurt that bad, thanks to the vicoden...

I hope all goes well for you, they told me as long as they just cut out the tissue rather than repair it, my heeling time would be quicker. Gettin used to crutches takes a bit of time though. :rolleye:

Best of luck bud!!

Dan, thanks for the warning, welcome to the site by the way..I can imagine how bad that would be, to be down that long. I will take it easy, I finally laid the crutches down today and it sure is wobbly. Plus tight, feels as though it's all bound up, kinda hard to even bend the knee joint.
Thanks again for the words of experience.

JD

Rich

Canine,
I owe you an apology sir. My problem is not a torn meniscus, so I couldn't have caught it from you.  :eyebrownod: For some reason, an area under my knee cap about the size of a nickle has lost it's blood supply. The surgeon shot some cortizone under my knee cap, told me to keep walking, and that it usually takes about three months for new bone to grow in there and blood supply to return. They don't know why this happens, but is not that uncommon. Nothing to do with old Judo injury flaring up either. Sounds better than surgery to me. Take care my friend, and I hope you heal quickly.

Sounds better than surgery to me too, Rich. Keep up the walking and get straightened out. The coyotes are waiting for you.
