With much better results this time. :yoyo: We had a little migration come through today and took advantage of it. And I redeemed myself from the horrible shooting last weekend

The layout boat...

And the results...10 Buffleheads, 3 Bluebill (Lesser Scaup), 1 Hooded Merganser and 1 Surf Scoter. I personally claim 2 of the buffleheads and the Hooded Meganser.

Here is a better shot of the Scoter (Immature hen) It is the first one in the pic

Enjoy,

We did pretty good on the divers again yesterday...ended up with 15 between the four of us. We could have had more, but we all limited out on the Bluebills and that was all that was flying for most of the day. I'll post up some pics later.

WTH is up with the Northern Zone this year ?  Man its so split up, ducks open back up the 17th to Jan 9th, geese  Nov. 15- 29 & Dec. 22-Feb. 28.  Southern zone opened back up this last weekend....I dont understand it.  Must be the educated higher ups know what they're doing.

too damn confusing this year  :noway:

I agree Vic...a week or so ago you could only hunt geese in half of Erie county (The Southern James Bay Pop) the resident zone was closed in the other half of the county  I have to look at the regs 2-3 times a week just to make sure I'm still legal :doh2: This past week we could shoot 2 Bluebills...next week we can only shoot one. I sure hope some redheads find their way down here soon. Otherwise we will have to resort to hunting inland in the afternoons and chasing some mallards in order to round out our limits. I haven't got those pics downloaded yet, but I will get to it...it might not be until tomorrow though. How have you been doing on the ducks anyway?

Not well at all.  The early season opened up a week or 2 late imo.  Very few local birds were left around here.  Migration hasnt brought didly so far that I've seen.   I mainly hunt the river and I've been wondering because that damn's broke open and the water level is low that might have something to do with it ?
Just northeast of us in NY State the Delaware is loaded with waterfowl.  I've seen big numbers of green heads and geese.  I might have to break down and get my NY license next year.

Plenty of time left, I'll keep at it.  Field hunt this Saturday, throwing out the goose spread and mixing some mallards in there.   :fingerx:
